Rik, I was referring to SHOEBOX1950 saying you bit his head off with your response. I thought you simply gave him a straight forward answer. Back to the project at hand...
Aha.... I see Shoebox1950 is a good friend of mine... he was just joking!... I guess ashamed he even asked the question in the first place
^yes, I am hahaha...and I was bein sarcastic, Rik I was scrolling through here and saw the lights and trunklid, but didn't pay enough attention to see that it was another car...haha...
Ok! My wife was looking through a box of stuff the other day and pulled out and envelope. She said "what's this, can I throw it out?" It was a letter from Jack Stewart - I said no way! "Why?" "He's an important car guy." She just rolled her eyes.
Here are my long awaited "scans" Turns out they are from 64. Dad was in Sioux City for the drags and the Kookie car was at a Buick dealership he thinks. YellowCOE was the hauler at the time. I also came across a magazine with Jim and the kookie car winning at a show in 61 as i was reading last night.
Thank you for posting those Tman... the Kooky Car paintjob looks the same as what we saw in 2010... except the paint is now in a lot worse state. I think the COE truck was actually painted gold (Metalflake), and not yellow. Very rare photos... thanks for sharing.
Tman those rule.. (sorry I ment to PM you Back ) I'm pretty sure the COE was the one that hauled the Golden Sahara.. No?
When I saw them in the very early sixties, he carried the Sahara in the truck and flat towed the T. I saw them in Clearwater FL at the local Ford dealer. I also saw them on Anniston AL when I was in the army.
Later Jim Street made a special trailer for the T and towed that behind the truck. he Golden Sahara II was inside the truck... Here is a photo of the Kookie T trailer....
Bill DeCarr did the custom work on it.. and Larry Watson painted it... at least once. I'm unsure if he also did the Gold version of the car. Watch for the new issue of Kustoms Illustrated (coming out in a week or two-three) for some nice photos of this Truck at Bill DeCarr and Larry's shop.
Wow! More details that I didn't even know! You are right Rik, that is gold but I always saw it as yellow. Cool. Not let me go kick dads **** for not taking more pictures that day! No worries Evel, didn't know if the shots made to your inbox anyway.
Tman..thanks. cool pictures! i am with you EVEL..i love that truck too. Jim showed us some really nice photos of the truck! it must have been very special to meet Jim on the streets back then.. -palle
