    Hatch,
Killer bike man! I never thought the OIF's could look so sweet. I want sooo bad to build a trump or a BSA it's silly! I sold my harley 2 years ago to free up some money for a baby and I regret it now..anyways, You'll get a kick out of this! There is a place you need to visit sometime when you're in the area, actually an old barn building, about 5 miles from my parents house in Southeastern WI, that looks similiar to the pict Donzie posted. It was called "Maury's Place", well, stilll is but there's a long story that goes with it. Basically a Brit bike shop in the 50's through the 70's. It was an old barn that all the guys would hang at at and work on there bikes, drink beer, you know what I mean. My Dad was one of those guys. Anyways, in the 70's, not sure, might have even been the aerly 80's, Maury and his wife were murdered by whom the police thought was their son. The son was convicted and put on death row for I don't know how many years, only to be let off after a handful of Outlaws who ran the state line between WI and ILL, were convicted of the murders years later. The barn building was basically locked up, as is, for years and years, and sort of forgotten about because the parents were dead and the son was on death row. My Dad says he remembers the stalls of the barn next to the building the bike shop was in, being full, crate after crate of Bezers, Trumps, Nortons, still in wooden crates, just like they were delivered!, rows of them, 50's and 60's stuff. And rows of new, used, bikes, parts, you name it, it was in there. Anyways, that stuff sat there for years until about 5, maybe 6 years ago I believe, when the son opened "Maury's place" up again and started to build these bikes again. Unfortunately, Mostly all of the bikes were bough by a private collector for who knows how much, but there is still a bunch of stuff there, and the place is still like it was back in the day, it's unchanged! They don't advertise, it's all word of mouth. Christ, you don't even know it's there when you drive by, no sign or nothing! and now it's the guys who hung out there in the 50's and 60's, who are now in there 50's and 60's who go back there just to walk around in the place and remember the "good ole days", and other die hards who are into 'em My Dad took me there a couple of summers ago aftyer he had heard it was open again, and it was the first time he'd been back since Maury was killed. He said the hair on his back stood on end when he went in there, "it was like stepping back into time" The crazy thing was, hanging across the rafters there were 20 or 30 handle bars, and pointed to 1 and about **** his pants and said " these are the bars off my BSA I hung here when Maury and I put ape hangers on my bike in '68!" We talked with the guys for about an hour or so, and they were super cool, defdinately way into it like I imagine you being. If you're ever in the area shoot me an email and I'll take you there. Sorry to ramble, just though you guys would enjoy the story.

    Nashman - That's a cool story.

Hatch - I've got a question for you. If you're using the OIF frame, where the oil goes in the frame, why do you have an oil tank under the seat? For the battery?

The frame type oil tanks are prone to cracking and I also wanted to fill the void between the fender and downtube.

how in the heck did you make the oif into a good-looking hardtail? mine is still an ugly duckling?

  14. Hatch... That looks great!!

Can't you just WD40 it... It looks wicked in bare metal..

Although... Your climate ****s as much as ours or not... I had mine in WD40 for a year. In the winter time you can't stop the corrosion.

I really like the bare metal tank with the red emblem though!

Anymore pics... I wanna see it's stance.
