While cruisin' the Virginia country today, a strange twist of fate led me to this actual "barn find". The old lady was happy to get rid of it but did not know what car it was for. It had been her father's. Killer original patina on this thing but what does it fit? Also, I can't use it. So if there is any interest, let me know (make an offer). I'd rather sell to a hamber than use a certain auction site. I just had to free it from the barn. Who knows how long it was in there?
It took a few hours, but I think this thing is for a 52-54 mercury. I also think it is missing the underside center bracket. I found an NOS on Eb*y that is identical and if so, it will fit 2 and 4 door sedans NOT hardtop. Which is only really strange because I have a hardtop. Weird. Anyway, if you can confirm or deny this, chime in. I'm gonna throw it up in the classies.
I do know that the 52-54 Ford ones are one piece and quite a bit different than the one you have pictured above. I'd be surprised if they made a special one for the Mercurys since I believe they shared a body tub in 52-54.
I appreciate the help. The only research I did was on the web and I found someone selling the same thing as an NOS 52-54 merc on " E blah".
