Hello..been a while since I have been on sorry guys..I have a question for olds guys or people that have work on them. There is a pc between the gl*** and the door skin that seals between the two. Do any of you know what that pc is called or know of a place I can get them. I was told that it was a slim pc that follows the contour of the top of the door and I believe the whisker attaches to it. I am in the process of putting my olds back together and do not have those pc? anyone that has a 54 h/t or similiar if you could send me pics so I know some idea of what it looks like would be appreciated any feedback or sources will be appreciated also..

    Thank you..

    what is a pc?

I have a 55 olds hardtop but I have no idea what the hell your talking about. Happy to take photos and post them here but I don't really know what you want photos of.

Can you take photos of your car , the area your talking about? might be a start.

sure we can get you sorted.

There is a garnish moulding that runs the top of the door between the door and gl*** that finishes the gap between the door and the gl***. I don't know if whiskers attach to that or what. My car was a basket case and I do not have anything that looks to be the same contour as the top of the door. Do you know where I could get these if you know what I am referring to?

sounds to me like your talking about the 'flipper' so your saying if you roll your window all the way up there is a piece missing between the body and the top of the window ( I'm ***uming you have the chrome piece that surrounds the window gl***).

if this is the piece, ebay is a bet, and try the cl***ifieds here, they come up but are not a common piece available. and buick and olds shared the same 'turret' so you could use a buick piece too.

No, it is the pc when you roll the window all the way down the piece that goes between the outside of gl*** and inside of door skin. I was told it was a chrome garnish rounded molding that is only about 1/2" -3/4" ? and runs on the inside top of door skin between the gl*** and door skin and I think a rubber pc attaches to it or the whisker between the door and gl***. It finishes the gap and keeps the window from rattling against the outside skin. Runs along the top of door between the gl*** when rolled down and the skin (remember I have a hardtop).

I think what your describing called cat whiskers . It come with black bead or chrome bead. Can bought in 8' or 10' foot? lengths and 1/2 or 3/8 wide is attached with staples or small sheet metal screws. Can be cut to fit for your Olds . Any auto gl*** shop can get or has in stock. Chose a shop deals in deals with cl***ics and hot rods. If wrong answer post PICTURES.

This sounds similar to the set up on the 56 Olds 88 coupe I am currently dismantling. One the inside of the door there is a garnish molding that covers a metal bracket secured to the top of the door with about 6 phillips screws. Attached to this bracket are two small roller ***emblies which appear to guide the window gl*** in its travels up and down. The remains of the window fuzz was attached to this bracket.

If your 54 uses the same design as the 56 these may work for you but I will not have pics until this weekend.

I think Restoration Supply has those, dew wipes or cat whiskers. The fuzzy stuff is attached to the chrome with staples and the chrome is screwed to the gl*** side of the outer door skin with the round chrome bead on the top. Don't know if the chrome part is still available but I bought new fuzzy stuff and attached it to my chrome with staples. 54-56 Olds & small series Buick were the same.

I think you mean "beltline molding". It's referred to as "cat whiskers" too, as mentioned. Gl*** shops should have it, or be able to get it, or try JCWhitney, they have it too. It'd be way easier if you'd spk Englsh, ur not txtg here...

You might also see it referred to as a "sealing strip", inner or outer depending which side ot the gl*** it's on. In some cases the outer sealing strip was part of the belt molding, but on older models I'd guess that the two were serviced as seperate pieces.

Also known as wiper strip, more appropriate for the later cars with rubber lips but the job is the same. Available with or without chrome bead in many sizes in 8-10' strips from gl*** shops or gl*** shop supply houses, C.E.Lawrence is one.

    Houston 54..
I believe you are on the right track. I know what cat whiskers are I have restored several cars but it is a finish piece that I believe the cat whisker attaches to. If you have any pictures or can help me that would be appreciated. I just dont know what it looks like and I have not seen a 54,55,56 Hardtop in a while to look at. Any help is appreciated..

I know what peice you are talking about. Its a stainless steel strip about an inch wide with a rolled top. It attaches with sheetmetal screws to the top of the door skin. Your window fuzzys are stapled to this peice. This is a vehicle specific part as it follows the countour of the door tops. Buick should be same. The fuzzy peice can be replaced. This peice can only be installed with the window removed, or you may be able to remove the access cover to the window stop and remove the stop to get your window to go down far enough to get to the screws.

Yeah, Do you know of a place I can get those off hand. Also,
Can you tell me if there is a roller below that moulding that keeps the gl*** in place? Or is that it for the outside of the gl***?
