Most of my 44 years I could walk to the beach if I wanted to, but only surfed for a very short time. My vision went to hell in the 7th grade and I hated only being able to see 5 feet in front of me way out in the ocean. I will miss that ocean breeze, but will enjoy a regular job over it a lot more!

Ugh as if! We Californians are VERY well behaved.:D It's all of you Texans who REALLY thicken up the accent to confuse us and give us the appearance of deer in the head lights.:p I will give you the real estate aspect tho. 250K gets you a custom mcmansion on an acre of property.

Texas is SO different Jim, Austin is most like Cali, probably because of the influx of Californians to it, but you'll REALLY fall in love with Central Texas.

If you need anything, including a guide book on assimilation, just shout and I'll help you out. You're also an hours drive from our shop, so if you need anything let us know.

  4. If the wages weren't so high and the jobs weren't so secure here in FL, I'd be in TX...

I FINALLY made it to Texas after an unexpected stay at the hospital. I had a checkup planned for ther day I was leaving to Texas and was almost going to skip it. My parents said I really needed to go- so I did. I was only there a few minutes and was immediately sent to the Emergency room. I was extremely anemic. I had about 2 pints of blood in my body where thre normal ammount is 6 to 8 pints. I got a 4 pint refill in the hospital and was checked to see where I might be losing it. They figured out I wasn't losing blood, but just not making it fast enough. Now I'm taking iron pills and feeling a WHOLE LOT better!
Look forward to seeing my old Texas friends soon- and look forward to making in friends. Thanks Jim

  11. Oh Whats the mater, tired of paying to educate, medicate, and incarcerate. Enjoy the friendly business climate, the low tax rate, and the option of being able to choose how you spend your paycheck. Dont forget to send a prayer up for the ones you leave behind to pay for everyone's pentions. Good luck.

  12. Hey Jim! I missed your original post. Good to hear you are feeling better.
Congrats on you new job and the relocation. Daryl and Tim are great guys and have been building some great cars, have fun!

Good to see you made it Jim. Now just remember, people have been shot in Texas for saying "that's not how we did it in Caifornia". As the sign says, don't Califonicate Texas. It's so bad in Washington that the town/city of Issaquah has a whole damned subdivision with streets with Cali names on them to make the expats feel at home.

You need to get to Texas and eat some real beef.

But leave the CA attitude back there. In fact, I'm not sure I'd mention where I came from. Sort of the same story in Colorado; don't tell them you're from either CA or TX!

    Popular bumper stickers:

    "Don't Californicate Texas!"

"We don't give a d*** how you did it in California."

"If California is so great, why are you here?"

Saw them all in Colorado, too. (My home state, but I'm glad I don't live there!)

  27. gee Jim, If it's not one thing it's another ! Glad they checked your Dipstick while you were there and found out you were low. You know what happens when you're too low on fluids - the dame thing quits running!
Glad you're OK, keep an eye on it now!
