Im thinking of powdercoating the rims on my Triumph 500 black. What do you guys think. 21" front 16" rear. Im thinking of going with wide whites--I think the black really sets them off. Im also thinking of just powdercoating the rear black and running spool front with aluminum rim s/s spokes and avon speedmaster. Either way will have spool front wheel. What do you guys think?? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

No whitewalls. Chrome or polished aluminum.

Theyre cool as long as that is what you like. I am running 19" front and rear with avon ribbed speedmasters front and rear. A little sketchy having a tire like that on the rear, but I know the limits and I think it looks cool.

What make/displacement is your bike. I'm toying with running a 19" on the back of my 45 solo, but with a more substantial tire.

Truth at Choppahead has some cool looking bikes with www's and black rims. As for Shadetree...I dont know because I dont watch it. I just liked the contrast.

  10. I've seen some bikes that really looked great with black rims... but I've also seen some that just looked tacky. As for the whitewalls, I'm generally not fond of whites on a bike [save for skinny whites and the double pinstripes], though I have seen cool bikes running a WW out back. It really hinges on the tread pattern. I don't much care for the WW tires with the crotch rocket style tread. And whatever you do, don't run the cheesy skinny white on the 21".

If you like the look... then go for it!!!

There is a Pan here in Pensacola done in olive drab with WWII markings and blackout lights. His rims are powdercoated flat black.

look at hatch's yamabobber. the black wheels look good if you follow through with using black elsewhere. bars exhaust etc. i'm trying to score a double pinstripe for my yamabob for the rear. it'll get a black wall front. i wouldn't run whites front and rear either way. there's some cool stuff with black wheels. just look around. i'll try to post a few pics if they will fit easy. i've gotta be back at work in 10 min...ken....

I like 'em. Mine are pc'd red, with WW tires. And yes, the bike is flat black with pinstripes. Not original , I know. I'd post a pic but I don't feel like getting flamed today.

But if I had to do it again - I'd probably do them in black.

  16. I dig black powdercoated rims... **** the whitewalls though... I dunno, but somehow, WW's look ****ty on bikes 9 outta 10 times.

My buddy just got his wheels back for his project.

Make sure you get the semi gloss black not the gloss black powder coating, It's just way to gl*** shiny looking.

truth has just done me one with powdercoated rims and whitewalls... but the bike has white stripes on it... if there's nothing to offset the bright white of the tyres, it looks cheesy... it's a 650 bonnie hardtail.

I have some nos white granturismo grips and am going to run a white solo seat (bates style)...I would like to have a custom seat cover made around the lines of the seat b*** has. I dunno just yet. I have alot of other stuff to get yet and dont want to drop a small fortune on my seat--maybe later on. Id really like to have a white metalflake seat but have never seen one. Im thinking maybe powdercoating some mini Z's or straight short drag bars. If I do that I want to powdercoat the fork sliders. Do you think thats enough to offset a www on the rear. I want an old school www for sure not the sport bike looking one. I saw some cool old cokers I really liked.

  20. Eyeball,
A builder friend of mine (Voodoo Choppers, like on the Build Off) did a bobber that was mostly black. Black powder rims, hubs, and Powder forks too. It had Avons front and rear, and it looks awesome. Yes, it does sound like overkill on the black, but it all works out and looks old school and clean at the same time. I'll post pics when I get one in.
