OK, I'll comment... While I admire your tenacity and work ethic, the proportions of your car are killing me! The grille sets way to far forward and has an odd shape. This also makes the hood look too long. I realise the grille is way out there to clear the motor and radiator....but it looks terrible. This is usually what happens when ch***is swaps are done.....some things fit, but others don't. Is it possible to move the engine back about a foot so you could put the grille where it belongs? It would make all the difference in the world! If you study the proportions of this car, it should give you some ideas... Now I'm sure you will take all my comments personally, but I really do like your car! At least parts of it....and I do know how hard it is to make something from almost nothing. Just don't give up on it...
HARTMEN, i admire what you are doing.i have built 4 hotrods in my dirt floor shop. you gotta do what your budget allows.my 52 dodge truck had an s-10 ch***is. so what! it worked....................but i have to agree with RMR&C. about the hood and grill.
maybe get someone to photoshop the front wheels a little further out in front and the fenders to match. moving the front suspension forward might do the trick, although i know it s a **** load of work.it would definitly take on a kind of deusenburg look.
i can move the engine back. trust me i thought about this alot. the look it has now though has grown on me so that i like it as is. if i wanted to i could me the engine back about 1'6" not having to modify the floors. it will involve me cutting the driveshaft. moving the battery. and moving the grill and raditor back .....then i have to cut my hood which was a pain to make. 3 hrs on each side to get it like it is now. i do plan on building more plymouths. right now im trying to get a coupe 33 model. if the car becomes mine it will have a custom z ch***is and a hemi. robotKing is a friend of mine. i built a frame for his 31 model a coupe....i think it was a 31.....i cant remember. could have been the 28-29 style. been trying to get him to post pictures of his car. its going to be neat.
here is a picture of a car i built a few years ago. 23t with 400sbc. nothing special. the 34 pu behind it i built also...well me and my brother built for my father. he drives it all the time. 460 BB. dad promised it to me so its actually mine.
here is a 1962 bubble top my brother built. the picture ive got is when it was not done. i cant find any of it done on my computer. ****s. i have to get ahold of him to get some of it done.... here is a 1915 saxon my dad built. it was a real neat rod.
The 34 pickup and the 62 would be my choice. Nice stuff. I'd like to find a 62 bubbletop, but I'd do it more like an early drag car. The 34 looks like an old time hotrod the way it is.
if i remember correctly its been on the road now for 5 yrs the 34 has....its all steel no rust texas cab. it was a very nice start when we first started worrking on it. she has tons of pep with that bb. lol
bump for an update. i will take some progress pictures later today. been working hard on the body work. all sheetmetal fab is done. just sanding with da and blocking now. terrible long process but worth it in the long run.
here is some new pictures. tops of the doors are really moving along.... the tailpanel is looking great.... just started on the dash... wish the guage cluster was smaller. <<< will be in the near future pending funds. notice my underdash ac....yay. the p***anger side bottom door sill is basically done minus primer. body is channeled acutally due to the fact of poor planing on the frame. wont happen again in the future.now on custom 2x4 frames PERIOD. screw the modding **** to make this fit that. ive learnt on this project it sounds good at first but in the end is just headaches. here is some more pictures of my dad's 34 here is a project my dad is getting ready to tackle. "60 A "is what he calls it. this is a car my brother is currently building to resell. im trying to convince him to sell as rolling ch***is but he wants to get it running and driving with air bags. gag. he already chopped it!
finally able to work on my plymouth again after some flooding. 5inches of water standing around my garage made my stomach turn. thankfully nothing was damaged except my lost of time working on it. 2weeks. man that is alot of lost time.
finally found a picture of his car. here it is. if i remember right the rear is zed 16 inches and the front is sweeped 5inches.
