Started the 50 Merc chop

  1. The Easter bunny gave me a box of 41/2" cut off wheels in my basket this morning!!!!! How about you guys!

    Looks like you're slanting the B pillars? Looks good so far but you're just getting into the easy part. You're a lucky guy to get cutof wheels in your easter basket! Be sure to thank your wife/girlfriend/mom/dad whoever your easter bunny is for those! Not every easter bunny is that cool...

    4.5" wheels will get you through the "a" pillar 4" might have to use a sawsall to get the rest at the center.keep going more pics!!!
     
  7. Worked on the Mercury this evening....Just me, my 4 1/2" grinder and a gallon of Italian made wine.
    What did I just do? Matt where are You??
    Getting excited though, just taking my time.:)

    Hey...
    Have not learned how to navigate this site yet, about to start chop on a 50 Merc More-Door, I've done many chops, recently 50-54 GM products, because I am able to cut curved w/shields in-house, along with the metalwork.
    I believe I have sorted this one out, (first Merc), the goal is to make the illusion of a Coupe. It is figured out, but, I am open to ideas.

  13. Just an update on my chopping progress. The A pillars are set and the rear C pillar are tacked welded. The window line looks good. The rear window will take some time setting up.

    how much shape did you have to put into the catwalk area?
     
  20. Hotdamn...not much at all. I used a 4" post to create the necessary bends and my right thigh!

  23. What else to do than grind welds for a few hours on Saturday!!!
    The chop is coming along.....I want to finish up all the welding/grinding and then start on the door tops.
