Well i call my father and he tells me that he has just picked up a new project. He tells me that after doing alot...and I do mean alot of welding for a friend it turns out that he hasn't got any cash. Well to make good my fathers friend gives him a 1957 150 2 door sedan delivery Chevy wagon in exchange for all the work that he has done. It has already had all the floors done and comes with all new interior, wiring harness, gl*** (see where I'm going with this) The strange thing is it has a gl*** (rear) on one side and a full panel on the other. The friend states that it was "Military use" at the Idaho Nuclear Engineering Lab that is on the outskirts of town. Can anyone tell me how you can tell if the it was for "Military use" or the rareity of this thing? My father will be running the Vin# and hopefully that will answer a few questions. I will post pics as soon as I get them... Viva
I've seen one of these before, I'm no Tri 5 expert but I think it's a handyman sedan delivery. Does it only have a front seat?
Oh and rarity? Very. These were only made for specific fleet orders, I remember hearing that civil defense, dept of forestry and the like used em. Very few survived and few were made. This is a nice score!
Check this thread, I think you'll find your answer there. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=462174&highlight=government+car And post some photos please!
that vehicle was probably from the u.s. forestry dept and was used for "fire watch". those had the right hand side windows, usually if they had windows on both side they wer funeral flower cars and sometimes used for florist delivery vehicles. anyone in business that wanted to advertise their products going down the road used these.
Yeah it only has the one seat and I will p*** the info along about the "SPL" on the firewall tag. I'm still trying to get photos from my 'ol man....hopefully soon Viva
