I have a set of original (full) '59 Impala hubcaps that I have been running on my stock '59 Impala wheels...so that combination is correct. But, I have been having problems with the hubcaps just popping off now and then. No serious damage to the hubcaps YET, but I don't want to chance losing one or getting it run over.

Anyone that has run caps, do you have any tricks on how to hold the hubcap onto the wheel in a really secure way???

If anyone could that'd be great.
    Thanks

Had that problem big time on my race car trailer. Old mobile home axle and God knows what 15 inch wheels. After 15 years of losses I finally drilled 3 pairs of evenly spaced 3/32nds holes around the the wheel at about where the openings in these Ford Hubcaps were and threaded safety wire thru the holes in the wheels, through the openings in the caps and used a safety wire twister and tucked the cut ends back in through the openings.

Hardly noticeabe and effective and easily re-do able if needing to pull the cap off.

Honestly no ****, after losing cadillac caps once or twice I siliconed the next set onto the wheel. If I ever needed to get it off I could cut the silicon with a razor blade but it never came to that. Worked like a charm!

Do your wheels' outer rim have 3-4 raised nubs on them? Original 58-59 Chevrolet wheels had raised nubs on them. I can't remember whether it was 3 or 4. The nubs are retainers for full wheel covers. I put 15" rims on my El Camino with dog dish caps but I still have the stock wheels, new wide whites and a N.O.S. set of '59 wheel covers with original spinners......Mike

Yes sir. They have the nubs. I'm just gonna bend the mounting tabs out on the caps and cross my fingers.

Are you running radial or bias ply tires? I've heard radial on older wheels can make them flex more.

J, J,' soulution is slick as is the saftey wire. Good tech post kids, tough to lose some of the vintage discs. Right on ~sololobo~
