Based on experience get a lawyer now!!!!

Accident attorneys deal with this every day and will not charge you a fee unless they win and they won't take the case unless they can win it. Glad you weren't hurt terribly or killed but you have to protect yourself and your investment. Lawyers are an important tool for some situations and this is one of them. Get a lawyer on Monday, don't wait. The other driver's insurance company will record every word you say and will probably have access to this post as well as any other public places you discuss the accident. Good luck.

wow..... good thing nobody was riding in the back seat. bad drivers always lie to get them out of trouble when they finally smash someone. i'd ask the cops about his driving record. sounds like he's done this before. what a jerk....

  5. Sounds like you are going to win this one!! :D

sorry about the shoebox man, hopefully you will get a good amount of money for it!!

this is starting to smell bad. i had about the same thing happin on a motorcycle. i was stoped with both feet on the ground this guy turns in and hit me head on. it took me a year and and a lawyer to get my bike fixed. i'd get my hands on a police report and find out if the cited him, they should have. he wasn't paying attention to what he was doing what if somone was crossing the street he wouldn't have seen them also.

    1. Go see a private doctor and get a full check out. See a Chiro if you believe in them and get a full check out there as well. X rays are mandatory.

    2. Get yourself a lawyer now. Communicate only through him to any of the other parties, including your insurance adjuster, That way you make certain that your insurance company knows that you are expecting to have this handled and not swept under the settlement rug.

    3. Take pictures and write everything down that you can remember. Make sure you date whatever you write down, and that your next set of pictures of the car and the crash site have the right dates on them.

    4. Don't talk about what happened in detail to anybody, including your buddies, people on the street, or anyone else. The details are between you and your lawyer, and he can relay them to your insurance company.

    5. If possible, find out where they towed his truck and go look at it. Look specifically at the interior. Is his cell phone there? Is there extra stereo or radio equipment mounted where it's difficult to access? Are there beer cans or bottles in there? Does it smell like alcohol? Report what you see and find to your lawyer.

    6. Do a little low key local research on the guy that hit you. Where does he live? What is his house like? Where does he work? Where was he coming from and going to when he hit you? Don't be obvious or visible, just do your homework, and tell your lawyer what you find.

    7. Start figuring out in your mind what a reasonable settlement for the car would be. Let you lawyer know that is the least you expect, plus any medical costs. Don't get silly with your number, because they will use a variety of methods to determine what's fair.

    8. Take someone who you trust, like your dad or a brother, who has some judgement and who has some maturity out to the scene. Walk them through it exactly as you remember it, and let them ask you questions. The questions will help you remember, and also identify points in your recollection that will be weak when someone else questions you. Tell your lawyer what parts you don't recollect or that are weak.

    9. Don't get in a hurry to settle this. There will be pressure for you to take a check quickly. Time is your friend. In addition to making them up the offer, it also lets you get further medical evaluation. You won't know how you are really healing in much less than a month.

    10. Say a big thank you to the guy upstairs, who really is in control of everything. You are a lucky, lucky man.

    11. To reiterate #4, stop talking about it here. The other guy's insurance company can look this stuff up, and will use it against you if they can.

Good luck on getting $$ for the 50.
Now I'm skeered of driving my 50. If I would have had my kids in there, I don't think A. We would have been as lucky, B. That guy would still be alive!!!
But glad everything is ok. Lots of great advice on here so good luck and god bless-

When the NSRA 23 point inspection was done on my coupe , although not required , the inspector strongly recommended installing a 3rd brakelight. I think I'll order one today.
Glad to hear that you are ok....sorry about the car.

    Funny...

There is some REALLY good advice on here. People here with experience in this arena are worried for you, your car and your wallet. Your choice I guess, but pissing an insurance company off will generally not result in your favor!

Hope something is happening in your favor for the car and your health.

Well for the guys that were wondering and following this thread. The insurance company gave me 4500 for the car and I got to keep it for parts. Still in pain. I have tissue damage.

In the third set of photos on page #9 it looks like two V8 exhaust tips end to end bolted to the inner fender passenger side for some reason just wondered why? They look kind of neat just wondered what they are for.
