    To sum the weekend up in one word FUN. This years Torquefest was as close to perfect as anyone could ever ask for. I hope John Wells made a ton of money because his show is the best in the midwest, and the cause is certainly worthy of 100x more money than he probably earned. I went out on Thursday night with Roy, Mike, and Jen. We drove through a steady down pour 3/4 the way out to our first destination of Apple Caynon Lake. Friday morning we took a cruise down to LeClaire Iowa to check out Antique Archeology. Their shop was cool, but the drive down was definately the highlight of the day. Saturday we headed out to Torquefest bright and early, and we were not disappointed in any way. This show was awesome. The new venue is perfect. Hundreds of hot rods, motorcycle racing, and the highlight for me, a chance to take my car around the dirt track with the wife and kids. This was truely a weekend that we will cherish and remember for a long time. 597 miles in one weekend in a 1949 Ford alongside family and friends is a truely wonderful experience. I would recommend to anyone who doesn’t have an old car to get one because it is good clean fun, and a wonderful way to spend time with your family and friends. As always, a huge thanks to Roy and Mike because without their help and support I would not be able to experience this wonderful thing called car shows. Pictures later.....

    Yep this was an awesome show. Congrats to the Wells family and all the volunteers who made this a successful event. Can't wait for next year.

    I've been trying to think what to say about this year's Torquefest;
    ...it was so great I don't know where to start, I can't believe it's all over already.
    The new venue at the Jackson County Fairgrounds is a great place, and the town of Maquoketa opened their arms to welcome everybody to the show.

    I am so glad that the weather cooperated and the show got two good days in a row; especially the way this Spring has been.

    I, along with a bunch of my fellow Tin Butcher club members, really enjoyed the show.
    We had the honor of running the swapmeet for John this year and everything went smooth as silk. All the swapmeet vendors I talked to said they did quite well.
    There was a good selection of old parts.
    John can count on us to help out again next year. If you have never volunteered to help; try it once; you won't believe the great feeling you get from helping out for a great cause.

    There was so much to do at this show, sometimes you had to try to be in two places at once. John really gives everyone their money's worth. One highlite for me this year was listening to "Whitey Morgan and the 78's" band play; what a great singer and group; I hope John can get them back for next year. All the bands that I heard were also very good; great entertainment.

    I can't wait for next year's show, it'll probly be even better; but honestly this was one of my most enjoyable shows I've ever attended.

    John Wells deserves a big pat on the back for all his efforts; along with all the great people who helped in any way to put on this super show.

    ...here's a pic of the Tin Butcher's club choice trophy winner, a beautiful 29 Ford roadster pickup from Rockwell City, Iowa. (sorry, I forgot to get the owner's name)
    but I did get to talk with him and he was very appreciative of the honor.

    Long live the Torquefest!

    Man it was awesome. I'm still reeling over the pork chops. All 140 pounds of me ate 2 at a time. Good venue, good food, good people, good cars, good, good, good!
