I spent a good deal of my weekend avidly hunting for an S10 T5 with no luck... The hotline at the junkyard showed a couple but the cheapest was $450 with a missing top plate. Am I just being a cheap ass or is that too high. I was figuring on somewhere between $75-$200 for an S10 box, depending on the yard I got it from.

Mine was free! It needs rebuilt, but it is the mechanical speedometer type. Now I need to find a 62 Falcon to put it in.

Pick a Part around here sells them for $129 and has a half off sale once a month. My problem is that no one has a 4x4 T5.

Got my 1987 S10 T-5 for $300 rebuilt and ready to go! well worth it.

  10. The first time I went out looking for a T5 I slipped in the salvage yard and broke my leg. No telling how much that cost and I came up empty handed.

I subsequently picked up a couple of NWC for about $100 each.

Eventually I had a rebuild shop build a custom unit. WC Chevy case, good gears, proper length input with 21 splines, and an S10 tail shaft. It was expensive. But cheaper than a broken leg.

I know a guy that spends a lot of free time at Pick a Parts. I pay him a finders fee for every 4x4 trans he brings me.

$100 for non-w/c, and $250-500 for world class because mustang guys buy up the w/c.

  19. U-pull-its around here price for any transmission is $100. And there is probably 15 T-5s in the yard at any time. Still looking for a T-56...

I dont pay more than $100 for one, no matter s-10, mustang world class or camero. Never pay big money for a trans that you cant see the inside. Even if you take a chance and you get it home and the gears are busted you still have 100 bucks worth of good parts left to help build another one.

  24. A couple years ago I got one on NH Craigs for $150.At that time cores on ebay were going for that.I put it in my '56 and it's been good.

75 bones all day long in any "pull a part" location. Thats with clutch, pressure plate blah blah blah.

  29. Up to a couple of hundred bucks is a pretty fair price. If you want a mechanical speedo, it may cost you a bit more simply based supply and demand.
