So.....after finally buying a home and getting settled; I was FINALLY able to get back on continuing to customize my 55 Ford Fairlane and adding the 55 Plymouth Grill. I've had it for 11yrs and it's been a LONG process. But a learning process as well. I'm slowly getting closer to finishing the custom work, to then move onto the final bodywork and prepping for a glossy paint job All the custom work has been done by Joseph Garcia at the Drag N Shop. Thank you, Joseph for helping me with my vision to making this car my OWN by keeping it a clean, simple, classy custom for a Woman!
That is looking pretty nice. I remember the first time I saw that car was at Hansen Damn and it was canary yellow with green flames, or so.
At work right now so no pics, still running the stock parking lights with the grille cut down to fit in between them.
Thank you. It was a canary yellow, then a mustard yellow (YUCK! Worst color EVER, haha ) Lime Green to it's current greenish mint color. But never flames. Think it was my ex-boyfriends Green with flames 51 Chevy and they were parked together, hahaha
OMG! I remember seeing your car in Santa Maria! I totally remember the grill and thought it looked great with the turn signal lights. It's also chopped, right?
Yea, it could be that I am blending the two cars in my memories. They say the mind is the first thing to go. I don't even want to know what the second thing is. Yep, I sure do miss the Blessing Of The Cars. Its been about six or seven years now.
yeah its chopped 4in and sectioned 2in, would like to forget that trip, worked on it all weekend. Your car is looking great, how do you feel about flipping the front bumper? And it is also C-notched
LOL! Yeah, I don't want to know either Yup, it was about that time frame that it was the mustard yellow with it's current green top & it WAS parked next to the flamed Chevy.
Never thought about flipping the bumper, but seen it before. Was just thinking about shaving off the bumper bolts. It's not C-notched. Only bagged. But I do want to C-notch it. I want it to go down at least 2 more inches Before I saw your ride in Santa Maria, I never seen a 55 with a decent chop. These cars are difficult to look good with a chop because of the big back window. Your's was the first one I saw that made me believe that a 55-56 CAN look good chopped
Yeah they can look funny, any 52-56 Ford can when chopped. My buddy and Blue Collar Customs did this one and his wife has a 56 four door that is chopped and looks great too. Windshield is sunk in and rear window is layed forward in a new pocket. Always of fan of Drag N Shop, Joseph Garcia has alot of talent.
Wow...can't imagine what a four door chopped 56 looks like?? So THAT'S how they made it look good....that's great! Yes, Joseph is very talented and that's why I've trusted him completly. We both weren't sure about how he was gonna install the grill, hahaha, luckily it came out GREAT! But I knew it would. Next is a frenched antenna and scoops in the rear quater panels to compliment the Packard taillights where the roundness ends from the original taillights. And that will be the end of the custom work on the body.
49super6 and yours are 2 of my favorite 52/56 Fords ever. DnS rules, and so does Blue Collar, no doubt both cars are beautiful.
Does anybody know how to get ahold of joseph Garcia? I used to know his father and him back in santa fe springs,ca.
