He does have some sedans and PU's, but no coupe's. Lyle's a very nice man, but generally only likes to sell whole cars and NOT any parts off of them. Due to this policy he still has alot of complete cars but now they are all complete, and rotted to death from those damn pine needles. Sounds like his mortality is setting in, and maybe his policys and prices have changed. The last time the "AngryFrenchmen" was up there he was treated very well. And he has always been nothing but fair and friendly to me.

The "sister" lot Bishops in Northern Maine was just crushed last year. He had the exact opposite policy!

Did Bishops have mostly pre 1960 stuff or lots of 60's stuff? I wanted to go there and just missed out. I heard there were some unusual 60's impalas and other fullsize chevies there.

I'd be interested in buying that 35 Chevy 2 door in first pic. Need it for a vintage stock car frame I got.

Bishops had a mega-ton of stuff, all the way back to the '20s. And as I understand from people who went there when the crushing began in later '09, they sold cars reasonably (at least in the end) to anybody with cash and a trailer. The OLDEST stuff was to be the last crushed out.

Yep that Lyle's yard in Guilford, Me.. Most wouldn't know its there behind the fence & drive right by. Gotta agree with G***er & the other posters about the cars & their condition. Was there several years ago to help some friends retrieve a 37 Hudson Terraplane coupe for a vintage race car. Got a chance to walk the entire place...not much older Ford stuff..few if any 30-32 coupes. A lot of post war, 50's & 60's stuff, still cool to look at. Most of the cars are sitting in groves of old fir trees & some are covered in inches of moss & wet needles, although some are up on rocks, stumps & tires etc. On the west side (I think) many of the cars are in better shape in a****st hardwood trees. Tried to find out about a couple 57 Plymouth's but he didn't want to name a price.
Very rough going in there due to fallen trees, huge rocks, & dozens of small tree stumps that hang up cars with flat tires. Took most of a cold November day to drag the Hudson 300 Ft. to a spot where we could get it onto the truck.

Yes! Lyle is one of the few car guys with a collection like this that is very nice and easy to deal with. Treat him as you would want to be treated if you were in his shoes.

Yep, Ol' Lyle must be changing his ways- he used to have a fit if you took a camera in with you. He'd walk the yard with you for hours and tell you a story about each car when it came in. It was the same story for each car every time, so I suspect there's truth to it. He remembers the cars, but not me and I've stopped by there for years now. It's always been the same story though, "that one's not for sale."
I suspect he's realizing that all of this will be crushed when he p***es on as his kids don't have any interest in the old cars.

I might have to take another trip up there soon if he is selling stuff now.

SGP - That 37 turned into a really nice race car - I know Blackie was proud of it...

    Welcome to the HAMB!

If the step pads on this rear bumper are for sale, I'd be interested in them.

Bringing back this old thread. I hope to get up there this month and check back in there with him. I can ask about the step pads. Has anyone that I sent the contact info to been up there in the past few months?

I was at Win-Ro auto salvage in Chelsea not long ago and he had just got in a 40's Dodge sedan. I'll see if I have pics.
