Anybody else get chills down their spine while watching that trailer? I hope it comes out on DVD so I can get a copy. unlikely I will get to see it otherwise.
that is something I'd love to see, as I can only imagine the crap that Abe and those early guys struggled with to make their dreams realities. For the readers out there,if this trailer gets your mind racing, then I'd recommend this book....by "Landspeed" Louise Ann Noeth Cheers, Drewfus
It's playing at the Newport Beach Film Festival May 4th at the Triangle Square Theater in Costa Mesa, CA.
YES one day only. I just checked with the theater showing the movie, they told me it's SOLD OUT! I'll try to run down where and when for next showing.
I would have to say I got the scoop first....Here is another tid bit to know.....Speedweek Screening on date for Aug 14th in Wendover! See my original post http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=581317&highlight=boys+of+bonneville
Yes, promo for a movie is terrible hard. Studios won't help unless they own the thing, then they can just bury it so their other crap won't be embarassed... Costs HUGE amounts to rent a theater for showings, too. I keep finding more hot rodders that have not even heard of DEUCE OF SPADES and with all the ink it has gotten in the car mags, it blows my mind. I hear she is putting together a summer tour with the car and the film for this summer. I already bought a few copies of the DVD from the website (and a shot of her rolling out on a creeper.. LEGS!), but I'm sure eager to see it on the big screen, too. Hot rods and hot chicks ! Dig it, baby! hrt
I did! I did! That movie looks awesome, can't wait to see it! Just like Jay said in the clip, those guys back in the day were really something. Racing was racing and speed was speed back then, that's all it was about nothing all of this other BS. That's what I like so much about the salt still today, it's all about the SPEED!
I saw the movie last night at the newport beach film festival. This movie is awesome and the actual footage of Ab racing is fantastic. It will be shown at Wendover during speesweek in August. For anyone interested in salt racing a must see. Will have dvd for sale on the website in a few days
I saw the movie at the Newport Beach film festival last night. I really wanted to see it and was given a ticket at the last minute. Thanks Jerry! This documentary is incredible. I was not expecting to see so much original film footage. What a great story and inspiration. I would recommend seeing it on the big screen, but if you can't buy the dvd in a few days when it becomes available. This is a top notch effort in all aspects. Thanks to everyone involved for making this movie! -Aaron
It was a great evening at the screening in Newport. I got the tickets and bought the popcorn. Arron snagged the sodas and old man Brennan even had a good time. The movie is very well done and a bit of a tear jerker at the end. The documentary footage is amazing. As said before, the DVD should be available soon. Order it when it comes out. Unfortunately I doubt that it will ever make the rounds at the local multi-plex. We need to support these efforts so people continue to produce them.
Thanks to the Price Museum of Speed, the Utah Salt Flats Racing Assocition will be retailling "The Boys of Bonneville" on their website: www.saltflats.com . We have them in stock for immediate shipment. The price is $19.95 plus shipping. No waiting.
And when they say immediate shipment, they mean it, I ordered mine on Thursday and received it and watched it today. What a fantastically made movie. The archival footage, the history, it was just a joy to watch.
Bought my copy at http://www.boysofbonneville.com/ . Only took about a week to get all the way to New Zealand. Amazing movie with incredible old footage, a must for any rodders DVD collection.
I just watched the Boys of Bonneville last night. It's absolutely fantastic, and well done. A must-see for ANY gearhead.
