The "skirt" on the bottom.....does it have a small lip on the bottom edge? Did you do that with a hammerform or a shrinker/stretcher? That sure makes a nice, flowing transition into the frame.

I bent up a piece of 1/4" round bar to the contour I wanted, welded it in with some bracing, then skined it with sheetmetal. Just used snips and a hammer and dolly.

That is sooooo cool. It is really going to sit down low. Very artistic the way you extended the body. Great look.

  3. On my rpu I removed all of the floorboard brackets that run along the inside of the rocker sill and then I made up some "L" shaped 18ga which I fit to the inside of the rocker with the base sticking out under the rocker. I then trimmed that horizontal piece until it matched the contour of the body. When it was all welded it became a rocker box minimizing the intrusions into the foot area. I'm running a T50 BW 5 speed which is about the skinniest manual trans around. The throtle s**** is mounted to the pivot alongside the tunnel and the other pedals are Kugel with homemade s****s just slightly larger than the throttle s****. My size 11's fit but there isn't any extra room. The body sits on top of a 2" wide perimeter frame and very little laps over the inside edge.

Nice. Nice. What a treat stumbling across your photos on a Saturday afternoon. Your roadster has long been one of my all time favorites, looks like the rpu is going to have *****en proportions, too. BTW, I like the big headlights (although the rims are a little "thick") -- and I LIKE the bar.

With your car and the Rolling Bones coupe build-up, the HAMB has really been rockin' lately.

oh MAN... talk about really nailing it!

i love the mild channel, even tho space is going to be a premium for the pedals, the looks of this T are going to be WELL worth the effort later!

only thing i'd want to see is perhaps a slightly lower widscreen, or lean it back slightly, maybe,,, 5 degrees?

thats a personal taste only, and only reason it came to mind is your stated "shoulder's inside, head outside" seating stance...

AWESOME car, this is going to be a good build to watch

    P.S.
never mind my statement about the windscreen,,, i took another good look at it, and i kinda like it as is... oh yea, leave them big lights,,, i like that bugeyed look on this car :D

The windsheild looks a little big to me too. The top 9.5" is chopped off, and it is leaned back 12 degrees beyond stock, I thought about more but then the curve dosn't match the shape of the cowl very well. Between the chop, the rake and reworking the posts to slip down the cowl a little further...its about 11" shorter than stock.
The pictures shows the raked post (forward) verses stock angle (rear).

Knuckle is a '46 FL...guy built the chopper in the mid '70's and rode it daily till he died in 2000. I bought it off his sister earlier this year and planed on just using the motor and trans to build a slick little race inspired bike...with a homemade frame and all early harley parts. But I might just clean it up and resell it. For now its just waiting. One of these days I'll toss a battery and some gas in it and see if it'll start.

The way you did the bottom....BRILLIANT. Between this, your sporty and your roadster you have so much genius floating around in your head there can't be any room for hair...:D

It would be a shame to part out that Knucklehead...It's got some history.

Oh well, it's yours to do with as you please of course. Nice job on the RPU and the Sporty by the way. I really like what you did with the bottom of the rockers on the T.

Thats been my thoughts lately, which is why I might just clean it up and sell it. Otherwise I'll stick a Shovel in it and save the Knuckle.

And I couldn't give you a price Tim, not sure yet what I'll be doing with it. Besides the motor and trans are what I want too.

Nimrod changes the wheels on that A roadster more often than some of the guys here change their underwear. I think the red artillery-style wheels are my favorite so far.

  18. keeping this one on top. This is awesome and inspiring - I gotta quit working so much and get to my Garage.
I was not sure about the '32 frame and how it looks under the '27 body. I think my touring may just get a '32 frame.

Keep us posted 'cause this look incredible.
