Anyone know off hand how many bolts have to be removed to get the body off of the frame on a 53 Chevy more door sedan? I'm thinking 10? Also, I'm ***uming since the motor/trans is out that removing the column is all I gotta disconnect? Thanks in advance.
http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/ That may be of ***istance... Also search for the resto-guide for your car. It should show bodymounts somewhere in there. (ymmv ianae)
There is more then 10, all the mount brackets are spot welded on the inside and outside of frame which are easy to find, along with bolts thru the center of frame in back only if I remember correctly.....you have 4 bolts alone on the front body mounts legs in the engine compartment . Im thinking like 14.
Its not bad, 14 sounds right, I had 2 in the truck floor that had been covered up with muck and undercoating, its easier to roll around on a creeper and find them from the bottem. the colume was the most difficult for me, i wasnt using it so I ended up cutting it off at the box. dont forget the pedals and the fuel line attaches to the body right by the tank.
