Yeah, THOSE colors you speak of would work on that woodie (Aust had that So-Cal RPU in those colors...looked pretty good). I can't make myself put the Ford hoops next to the flake lime green VW!

These orange wheels will be with the crappy-chique brown pickup body like below......probably not shiny though, unless prep and paint fall into my lap somehow!!

I love those mini-T bodys....I also really like the button tuck upholstery it had in there!! 12 spokes on the front and 5 spoke mags on the back!!!!!

I built a Manx buggy last summer with a hot motor. Lots and LOTS of fun! Lil blue dune buggy it was. I miss it.

    coolio!!

I built narrowed bug beams for a while, and I wouldnt be so sure one spring pack will hold up..bugs weigh very little in the front anyway. also the whole weight of the front of the car is then on one adjuster bolt..not two.give it a try..but maybe have some sort of bump stop rigged up so you can get home if it breaks. Ive seen broken springs in stock bugs quite often..

    Just an opinion, have fun!

Thanks...I'll definitely keep that in mind. In fact I added a small filler/wedge that drops into the slot in the adjuster next to the bolt so that even if the serrations don't do the trick (which they often don't) the filler keeps it in position as a back up. As far as broken springs.....I guess my bump stop is the body! hahaha

Here's mine, a 1968 Deserter built in Marblehead, Ma.
I restored this car in 1975 for the original owner / manufacturer, and bought
it from the 2nd owner last year. It was the pace car for the 1969 Bahama
Gran Prix, and the overall Ice Racing Champion for the 'Corvettes of Ma.' in '68, and '69. Low buck fun.

Funny, when I read the post title, i immediatley thought of my 40, and that I will be distracted getting my street buggy back on the road over the 40 just cos it will be alot easier, then opened the post, and there's all these buggies, on the HAMB! I'll try and post a pic later, it's a British GP, basically an early Manx with a couple of changes, lowered, centerlines, full cage and a hot lil 1776, should be scarey enough!

We used to own an old dune buggie in Phoenix on a shortened '57 (or maybe it was '58) type 1 chassis.... If that thing was an ugly faded purple when you got it, might be my dads old one that we never did anything with.

Funny, me and a buddy both bought one from the same old guy but they are from the Salton Sea area. My friend's is (was) purple too... That's where the name SS Fishbone came from...all the ground up little fishy skeletons that resemble white sand at the Salton Sea. Mine came with the faded flake green you see in the pictures....although it was candy blue as well as straight tan at one point. 100 or so razor blades and counting to get it back to the OG green!

I think this thread proves that VWs can be a therapeutic diversion from the building of hot rod...hahaa

Well, here's my 'distraction', moved it out to get the dual webered 1776 and close ratio box in. I knew it had been a while since we last drove it, but I found the road tax on it, '92 was the last year we drove it!
