Hey, gang. I wanted to share some pictures of a project that we're working on for a customer. This is a chrom-moly rear-engine dragster from 1982; someone in the past cut the front short and extended the rear. Our customer, a local Flathead/Inline racer, bought it and decided to make it a twin-Flathead-powered car. After ac***ulating a bunch of parts, he brought it to Hanksville to have us do the fabrication and ***embly.

The rear-end is a pretty heavy-duty quick-change that is coupled (Mark Williams splined coupler) to a shortie Powerglide. The engines are being built by Joe Albin and will also be connected to eachother with Mark Williams couplers. This car will run a couple of different engine combinations: the "quick" combination will use twin 255 c.i. alcohol injected flatties, while the "quicker" setup will have a single blown nitro-injected 315 c.i. Flathead. The ch***is has been pre-inspected and will cert to 7.50, so the hope is to run quicker than 9.99 with the two engines, and somewhat quicker with the single big engine.

The front-end is a hard-mounted funny car drop tube axle with rack-and-pinion steering. We fabricated a tubular "grille shell" from .75" chrom-moly, and a tank from 4" tube (after it's painted it should look something like a shotgun shell) to hide the rack.

We fabricated the headers from 1.625" 304SS. Each pipe features two custom mandrel bends, on a continuous length of tube, each with a different bend radius for a unique appearance.

We're currently working on the sheetmetal, which will look reminiscent of a front-engine dragster. I'll post more pics once the sheetmetal is further along.
