I'm looking at a 1935 Ford 1/2 ton and need help putting a value on it. Here are the details: -Sitting in garage for 40 years -All original body (no rust) -Ovenhauser Heads -Dual stromberg carbs -Believe it has the old Eldelbrock intake -Engine is stuck from sitting -Different speedo and other gauges put in back in the 60's -Has ***le (2 owner) I have never came across a truck like this and dont really know how to value it. It's the truck I've been looking for and it has been quite a search to do it. The seller wants an offer but no price. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
Who are you? All we know is that you think you have fat calves, or you're a cattleman from Illinois! Are you the 'seller' phishing for a bid instead of leaving an intro or?
Start with an intro, then post pics of the truck. Also go over to Fordbarn.com and do a PM to Lawson Cox who knows '35-'37 Ford trucks as thoroughly as anybody alive.
ovenhauser heads.. hmm thems pretty rare, so i'm inclined to say, no less than $20k for them heads alone
Ovenhauser was the half brother who made pizza oven parts.... better check em for anchovies. You never get that fishy smell out.
Thank you 38Fordpickup. Hopefully one day I could be as perfect as the rest of you and learn to spell correctly. Sure makes a new guy want to use this forum.
And yet, you will still be mocked for Ovenhauser, not to mention Eldelbrock. Of course, the same guy who gives you grief will post how his breaks don't work or his axel is broken. It's a funny thing about irony

It sounds as if the truck's owner is not serious about selling. Why would he not set a price? Anything you offer, he/she can say no. Ask again for a price. Then it is you who can say 'yes', 'no'', or 'I'll give this much'. I think they are playing games with you.
At one point in time he had mentioned the lower five figures. I really do not want to post any pics in case someone recognizes it and tries to buy it out from under me. Hope you understand. I have that kind of luck
Lower 5 figures? Must be one damn nice truck then unless that includes the 2 numbers after the decimal point too. I'm thinking real low 5 figures at best and likely well into 4 figure range. Otherwise, without pics, no way to guess any better. Do an internet search and what other similar condition trucks have gone for recently. Offer low and see what happens.
So we are talking 11,000 to 13,000? It would need to be a well stored survivor...It would need to be savable old nice paint, savable interior and other things like trim and bumpers. Then you need motor redo or maybe even a bad block, plus tires, brakes, maybe wiring, batt, etc.. . If it needs total refinish, in and out, plus interior, and all the above things, then it's way,way too high. also..Sometimes aluminum heads can't be saved if stuck to the studs
It would be similar to this but with original paint http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...0809488797&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT
See where this one ends up and maybe subtract 10% for the ebay factor. I'm always leery of sellers who don't even have a price. They aren't that motivated to sell but if someone comes along and offers something ridiculous they'll take it.
don't let them get to you, some people just don't know how to have fun. this is a great site regardless of cheap shots and stupid shooters. so much guess work on the 35. i bought a 37 1/2 ton for $800 and the body was pretty nice, the motor was toast. my friend has a 36 pickup and he wants 6,000 for it and my 37 was nicer. you just never know but i would start with at least $1500 to open it up. you can't go wrong for that but he will likely want more. good luck, don't give up on asking for advice and scrue the spelin.
Good luck on that decision, is it an investment or somthing you want because I have a feeling your not going to get both......
I agree that mid 4s to mid 5s is the standard price range if its rust free, complete and fairly clean. But if its "the one" you have been looking for dont hesitate and ask around because someone else has seen it and knows right where it is.... Lost a gorgeous 47 Ford Coupe one time by asking the wrong guy what he thought my "secret" barn find was worth....he went and picked it up before I got back - he had seen it 15 years before..... damn.
