I'm going to make a trailer queen out of it.

Well at least a way to haul the hoodlum around and still feel good about myself.I bought this 55 GMC for the 302.The rest of it's nice enough to do something with.

We hauled what we could back from Kansas.

    Pulled the engine.

    Set it aside for awhile.

We set the cab on a 69 chassis off Craigs list and brought it home.

Tomorrow we'll make new cab mounts and set the saddle for the front clip.

I'm going to pass along this Tip of the Day, that xderelict once told me, about driving down in the So Oma turd land.

When you're either behind or passing a stock truck, keep your windows rolled up.:D

Rob with his engine hoist, you with your visions, the ole So. Oma just ain't going to be the same.

    Best wishes Dick.

This should be a pretty straight forward build. Most everything should be bolt up and go_Once the cab and front clip's in place the rest should be a walk in the park.I have a 283 under the bench and a T5 I need a jeep bellhouse for.I like that the truck has some history.

Started out today with the cab sitting on the frame and the front clip loose.

    Some cutting and triming
    [IMG]

    Tugging and pulling.

    Grinding and tacking

    A little welding.

Not to bad. Got the gaps looking ok. The body is on blocks and will have the mounts fabricated in the next day or two.The saddle has mounts welded in and is in place.

The broken door handle sent me flying onto the concrete floor.I was trying to tug the body over a half inch. Lucky I landed on my head.

When the chassis came up for less than the trailing arms are worth it sealed the deal.It really is a sweet fit. It's like having a 55 frame z'ed 6 inches.

Looks like a fun project. It needs "big block" power. 455 Buick, Nailhead or..... Dick, I've always wanted to get an old Diamond "T" cab and have some fun. I'll be watching...Gary

What would be correct for the GMC is a 389 Pontiac. I don't have one under the bench, anyone want to trade a 283 for a 389? Or a 348, 409 would be really badass.
