Found this 34 3 window coupe in Ca last year--have been looking for years for one. The picture is after a tractor pulled out of a field where it had been setting for year. Lucky the high dryer climate prevented any serious rust. Now in work --street/hot rod
That is a cool car. You should probably do an intro before you get in trouble. That is a cool body style.
Great lines..just goes to show there were other car manufacturers of great looking coupes in the thirties. You'll be the only kid on the block with one. Great score.
Very nice looking car! Nicer that it still held air in the tires so you could pull it out of the field easier!
I don't give a damn if it has an LS engine - it's a seriously cool body style and I would far rather have that than ANY deuce 3 window. I agree with put the hood sides back on and I would love to see the stock artillery wheels widened with stock caps and maybe WWW. LS engine gives good gas mileage and reliability and there is more than one HAMBer who has a seriously 'Trad inclined' cool ride with an LS engine right here on the HAMB (don't worry Hupster, your secret is safe with me). The older I get the more I lean towards driveability and reliability over high fashion and old school inverted snobbery and if I had to do it over again I would probably go the LS route. I really don't feel any need to open the hood to strut my stuff at shows and cruise nights anyway....
Nice John...I let a two door sedan of that year get away from me once...they make seriously cool hot rods...yours looks good. And I know you didn't ask for an opinion, but a full hood would look better than no hood, espeically covering that LS 1... R-
Very cool. I had a 35 awhile back that was an old big block chevy drag car for a short time, then it was converted to street use with a small block chevy. Never could find the front sheet metal.
Glad you ditched the headlights. Wonder what stock ones look like. Love the way the window moulding goes back into the rear panel behind the door. Unique!
Love that Studebaker and great selection in wheels to boot! That door/window line is certainly unique. What does the rear window look like? 36 coupes had a really neat rear window but in general, I think the 36 was a rounder car, a lot changed in 2 years Can I ask a favor? Would you mind posting a picture of the dash so I can add that to my dash/instrument cluster Id files? (619 and counting) ..I could use a full width view, door to door as per say as all I have on file for 34 Stude is the lone instrument cluster and could use a full view pic of the dash to match. It doesn't matter if it was complete or not, but something showing the overall shape and orientation of things like glove box area etc would be a real bonus. This is what I have for 34 stude (so far): Studebakers had some of the most beautiful and unique instrument clusters thru to the 40's. Dodge and Plymouth and Chrysler were a close second in the looks dept (imho). Wish they still made things like they used to... ....Thanks in advance and keep up the good work on the Studebaker! .
Cool 34 coupe! Always liked those old Studes, there are a couple of 34 coupes for sale in Minnesota now I believe.
Damn cool ride neighbor, can't wait to see it at one of the local shows. You've created quit a bit of excitement here with this rare beauty, I like it. One Crusty One - Issaquah Wa.
The hood will be on the car --just in mock up stage--plan to use ls engine, but keep door handles and everything else to make the body stock, but has TCI custom front suspenion, 4 bar jakes rear and cobra disk brakes on all four wheels. may try using center or orginal wheels?
I always thought that was one beautiful car! That picture brought back a memory. We had one just like that in our little town - the librarian owned it. She was an older spinster lady named Miss Terrill. When I was in grade school, late 1950's, she was our town librarian and parked it on the side street beside the library. I went to the library and downtown most every day and walked right by it. I was smitten by that car even then! It was all original - the paint was a chalky faded medium green. Kinda like the old telephone truck green (anyone remember those?). I would peek in the window and see that odd (beautiful) dash and faded mohair seat covers! Even as a kid I knew this was something so very COOL! I loved that car. When she p***ed the car was picked up by a local family that cared for it for years. Couple years back I guess it was sold and I never saw it again. May sound kinda sappy but I remember that car like a first sweet heart! Wish I had it now!
