I'll take the credit for photoshoping plowboys space truck before he made it. That was about 3 macs ago at work. If you don't like helping people with photoshoppng their stuff, well then just don't. outta sight outta mind.
This is another reason why a separate forum would be good- I wanted to show my uncle a 'photoshop' post a few weeks ago and after 5 minutes of looking for it I said fuck it-
We have enough forums guys... We have always been based around self moderation and this gets much harder as you add forums... I like photoshop posts and think we have had some really good ones...
Here's an excellent and thorough website that teaches, easily and visually, how to photoshop your car. The examples used are all ricers, but who cares. Of course, this is only helpful if you have access to photoshop. I like seeing the before and afters and I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. I think it really helps people make decisions and see possiblities that they may have never thought of before. http://www.photoshopjunkie.com/tutorials/ Stacey
As a relatively-frequent Photoshop contributor, here's my $.02... the board has grown quite a bit in the last year, so it is tough to watch meaningful posts get buried by posts with a little less 'substance'. For me, the key to on-topic Photoshop post today is determining whether or not the poster is looking for help in deciding a build direction or if they are simply looking for cool/funny pics of his car to share with friends. Usually, those looking for real build help are looking for the impact of subtle changes like ride height, wheel choices, and paint schemes (Space Truck excluded). Those "Hey - can someone Photo-chop, channel, section, shave and paint my car?" posts have to fall thru the cracks. I Photoshop 3-4 cars via email for every one that I post on the HAMB. For me, Photoshop skills aren't about who can make the most drastic changes to a pic... it's whether or not the guy at the other end wants to actually make his car look like the PS'd version. If I feel this is what the poster is looking for, I'm glad to help out.
I like photoshop posts... just not silly ones or ones that people don't have a practical use for. Like the guy that has no intention of changing his car... but wants to see it chopped for the hell of it. Sam.
To help everyone in their efforts to find "lost" photoshop posts, perhaps some guidelines on the subject title would be helpful. Sorta the the classifieds have, WTB, FS, etc. Instead of titling the thread "Photoshop request" or "Photoshop my car," maybe the protocol could be something like: PS: 1955 Chevy That way you know in the title that it is not only a photoshop request, but also what car you are requesting to be 'shopped. Those not interested in 55 Chevy's can keep browsing other threads. Just a point in general about subject headings. I do a lot of HAMB searches and the proper titling really helps search efforts. I know sometimes I am just as guilty as the next.
I love the photoshop posts but see no reason to have a seperate forum. Like Ryan said keep it simple. Thanks also to you guys who do the photshopping for us. One of you did one for me a while back and even though I did not apply it to my great I appreciate the generosity of doing it.
I think you guys should keep the photoshop stuff up! I just someone would give my 55 some work so I could keep a vision!!!! Josh
Yes it is. I have a lot of fun messing with both. About 10mins to lower it (angle) and another ten for the wheels and roof-be-gone. Coulda spent some time making it look nice, I guess...
I like the photo shop posts. There kinda like a train wreck some people gotta look others are terrified to look. For the ones that dont want to see them Ryan has added a neat feature run you cursor over the title read the preview of the post if interested then click on it and read it if not go on and read somethin else simple as that. This applies to most posts on the board as long as they are related topics. Later Shoe
If you want to learn and play with Photoshop (I'm using this term generically) What is a good program and-here's the hornet nest-MAC or PC?
Photoshop IS the program, there are others, but professional graphic artists mostly use Adobe Photoshop. You should be able to buy an older version on the bay or a used software store, there aren't that many differences in the functionality for Photochopping cars for the last 3 or 4 versions anyway. Mac or PC?.. Whatever you are looking at now is OK, I have both.
Adobe makes a stripped down version called "Elements" and you can pick it up for about $70 and I've seen it as low as $49 with rebate at Comp USA I think, and it will do everything you will need it to do and more for messing around with photos.
