What's the best way to upgrade the drum brake and manual steering system in my 57? I'd like the wife to be able to drive it but as it is now it takes 2 men and 3 little boys to stop it or steer it:D. Best (front) disc conversion/power steering upgrade?

1957&58 are one of the worts years, suspension parts are expensive & not to many companies make up grades for those two years.how ever I think scarebird make a bracket kit for disc brakes in front.good look!

You're car has a firewall mounted master cylinder, so it should be fairly easy to adapt a later model master and booster in the same location.

Scarebird makes a front disc kit, but it should stop fine with drums in proper working order, especially if you add a booster. Have you inspected/adjusted the brakes?

Not really sure about the power steering. Perhaps swap in parts from a PS equipped car?

We do make a bracket the fits 71-76 Riv rotor and GM truck calipers inside the stock rim. 1957 is a one year wonder for Buick

It may stop fine in normal driving. But trust me, from experience I know that they are susceptible to brake fade rather quickly. The 57 I had back when was no power steering or brakes. It rode like a dream though
