Remember, just because $35k is the ASKING price. . . that doesn't mean that $35k is the SELLING price.

I have to say though, that front end looks pretty scary.

  5. I agree, you basically are buying a cobbled together 32 3 window and if someone is willing to drop $35,000 for it, go for it. I wouldn't give much for it as $35,000 will buy alot of other way cooler cars that run. Real nice killer 1936 3 window up here for $25,000 and its built with quality. I know its not a 32 but ...............

Cool pics. Thanks for posting. Noticed even the running boards were drilled full of holes!

I run from **** like that. Who knows what kind of freakin' mess is lerking under all that "neato" stuff. I like'em chopped, but given the choice I'll take and un-****ed with car that needs a little more work any day of the week because I'd rather know what I'm getting, and do it myself.

I'm not saying its a good deal, just that if I had the "extra" cash(and I don't) I would buy it. Having been around this hobby for some time, and even worked in the business for a while I don't think that makes me the big ****ing ***** that some of you are implicating.

This is one of those situations where it's easy to say that "IF" you were in a position to buy this car, you'd be willing to pay something near the seller's asking price. It's also just as easy to say that the price is too high, "IF" you're not the seller. Wanting to purchase at wholesale price and sell for a retail price is just human nature - I like a bargain as much as anyone and enjoy making a profit, as well.

Either way, I thought that the old car was cool and that most car folks would enjoy seeing it. Since the exterior of the body wasn't modified or badly damaged, it makes it easy to dream about finding such an old race car and either adding it to your stash/returing it to service/or just turning a nice profit. Either way, it's entertaining.

I saw the car and it's cool but it was still there Late Friday.

If that's what ya want and a period drag car really trips your trigger it could be the car of your dreams.

On the flip side if you are looking for a 3W to make a driver out of and don't want the nose up in the air your gonna have to spend a lot of fun tickets to get it there. HRP

As the actual owner of an original Henry Ford 1950 F1 pickup... I'm also looking at the Charlotte coupe... on the internet. What a great piece of history. Thanks for taking and posting the pictures.

And as usual the haves are going to tell you what a great deal it is at that price... and the have-nots/want-nots are going to say it's overpriced.

    :D :D

I have NEVER read truer words here on the HAMB. :)

If you are not a 32 Ford lover ... or can't even afford a decent
rebuild on the car of YOUR dreams ...
You will never understand why the Charlotte 3W will bring the $$$.

That said ... I would not buy it at 35 grand.

    1 ) I already have a 32 3W
2 ) at my age ... I just can not see me building it
3 ) and most important ;) The 32 3W I have about broke my fun stamp account

I like this 3 window .. feel its better priced than the one shown in the LSR threads
a car that would be fine for alteration and any mods to it won't sting

Whatever the price is its a pretty cool car and I'd love to know the history and see some old drag race pics. Thanks for starting this thread.
    By the way, I have a '51 F1. Can I be a snob? :D

i fall into the catagory of the "have nots" but I feel its more than a fair price based on what I saw at Lone Star Round Up. 48,500 and sold marked on window on one and I believe the pristine unrestored blue car was 75,000. The blue car was the holy grail to alot of car guys. It was so far out of my league that i didn't even take pictures of it. It was in the swap meet but was being driven everynight I heard. Anybody get pictures or hear the same prices?

    What a rad car!

Although......That front spring lift block is one of the sketchiest setups I have ever seen.

I went, I saw, it was never raced at any sanctioned track after 1960.
I don't know what you could get away with prior to that time frame, but even then
no tech inspecter would have let it stay parked in the pits. The galvanized water pipe ladder bars have never had much horse power put to em, cause I,ve seen well made stuff bent to hell trying to run simular geometry. It was actually a real nice body but the "race" stuff was pure ****.
    $35,000? Not my money!
But I'm a have not, so what do I know?

I refuse to pay more for a hot rod than my house cost.

  25. The g***er style coupe was reduced to $32,500 at Knoxville NSRA this past wknd. I thought it was a pretty cool car. Its up to you whether you want a original Henry coupe, or a Brookeville Rolling package at $55,000. There was also a neat '34 Ford 5W there for around $24,000...and it SOLD.

I only saw the pictures , but I have to agree with 48 Chubby. Wasn't enough on the car for it to have been a runner.

  28. It's funny to read these threads because the clueless come out in big numbers to diss things they can probably never afford. I doubt I'll ever have the scratch for a real '32 Ford either, but I don't have my head up my ***.

Normally $35,000 for a real '32 3-window coupe with all the hard parts -the garnishes and so on - still there, is a deal. Painted and made turn-key drivable it's $60,000 or better. What did that auction one bring last year? The one that had been sitting outside for ages? Seems to me it was close to $30,000. This one's worth that all day. Hell, I saw a '32 chopped 5-window body turn up - no floors, no ch***is at all, and it needed some rot work in the lower cowl - and bring $12,500 no problem.

But selling something of this caliber is not an overnight proposition, it's not really a swap meet piece, it's something you want to run on eBay and advertise nationally and then it still might take a few weeks to get a buyer - mostly because the economy is pretty slow, and gas prices going so high has made it worse.

Was it me, if I couldn't get $30,000 for it I'd put it back in the garage and sit on it until after the next election, or even the one after that if the current occupant somehow gets re-elected, because in a good economy that thing would sell in a week tops.

Like the other guy said, if you doubt it then show us all the perfect $30,000 or less '32 Ford 3-windows for sale out there, because I'll take out a home loan to buy one just to flip and double my money on.

its WAY closer to being a driver than the rusty, 79 year-old POS I just paid too much money for! haha
I do agree, that is a lot of cash for something in that kind of shape. For $35K, you could find a nicely done gennie 32 elsewhere, I'm sure. It's all in the eye of the beholder though.

  30. Even the lightening holes are poor quality.Random holes anywhere or everywhere. My opinion is it ****ed back in the day and it ****s even more now.
