Reminds me of the 1965 Rambler 660 Cross Country I sent to the s****per a few years back. 2 weeks ago I saw it sitting behind a shop getting a new motor put in it. At least someone had the foresight to not crush it.

"I don't care what it is, I care what it weighs"

That is exactly what a s**** hauler buddy of mine told me a few years back. Its all just weight to them.

I think some of the s****per guys really "get off" on ruining cars (trucks?) like that ranchero!
The more damage they do to it trying to load it, the "happier" they are!!
They're the ones who when they were kids who whould wack a brand new Hot Wheels car with a hammer just to see it wrecked.

I agree 100 percent. I have been in trouble with land use and planning commisions when I was younger. I see people on the HAMB saying buy land in unpopulated areas. Forget it. When I was an Airman after the Korean War I had a frend who owned a 1934 Ford Coupe Hot Rod and we used to talk about building Hot Rods when we would get out of the Service. We decided that buying land in a ghost town would be the best way to have people leave you alone. So I did. Things change. Yuppies move in and kick everything into their version of a perfect world. I agree that no true Hot Rodder or car builder should be a member of a Home Owners ***ociation and I would extend the su****ion list to high level Real Estate people and Builders and Developers. We let these people come a**** us and we are like the chickens extending an invitation to Colonel Sanders. By the way, you can't save all the good cars and it hurts me too when I see something like the Ranchero being hauled off.

  6. That's just wrong. :D:D Hell even meth dealers get an investigation when they are murdered.

All kidding aside it is a shame that the tree huggers have no respect for history. A '57 Ranchero is the holey grail for a lot of us, and I'm not even a Ford man.

    1) Who is really into this type of car?

    2) So would you actually buy this car if it were offered for sale and at what price?

Unfotunately, it's simple economics; The s****per would first of all have to have a place to park it----space gets taken up fast with cars as you well know. Then he has to wait for someone to actually step up to the plate and actually buy it, not just say they want to buy it---you know how that goes.....

If he gets $150 for it, this may be better economically then to wait around for larger $$$, but no guarantee.

This is a ford ranchero, not a 57 vette.

  8. Yea if it were a vette it wouldn't be worth as much to the s****per. I don't think they give much for used plastic.

The killer is that I have seen s****pers turn down double s**** value for an old car. There is a certain mentality that goes with crushing one. Not all mind you because I haven't met every s****per in the world but some of them seem to be more into squashing then selling. I don't think it is about the money for some of them.

But I bet a lot of them got that way because guys would say I will give you twice the s**** price for it, they would put it aside, and then the guys would never come back or if he did he would want to haggle.

It is also the economics of their time that is involved they are not used car salesman they are s****pers.

  10. I see your point but when you walk up cash in hand and they say, "no I'm gonna crush this SOB" it is all about the crush and nothing else. It is just a different mentality than ours.

LOL well there are always those types in every field I guess. The s****pers just frustrate and annoy us more:D.

  12. They really don't bother me as much as they should. The less there are of something the bigger deal it is to own one. :D

Dam, at least pull the gl*** and stainless off..cripes

  14. I've run into people that are anti-everything and would rather see a car like that destroyed than accepting the fact that someone else might succeed where they failed.

Realizing that not everything can be saved, it makes me sick to see images like this when I'm out hunting tooth and nail for an old project that's not a bucket of rust, that's long been stripped of it's useful parts. :(
