Hey all, Back after a week in Green Bay with no HAMB but plenty of HAMBers. What a great time! Incredible music all week long. I just have to say a few thank yous to all the HAMB folks who came up to see my shows. First to carartnick who hung out all week and gave me ride in his sweet running 52 chebby. Thanks for the mini tour of Green Bay and the good conversation and food at the cool little diner. Nick had quite a week with empire32 striping his deck lid (holy shit he's a great artist) and getting the glove box lid autograph by the Comets! Thanks for everything man. It was so Cool to meet Empire32. I love his Photos and Painting. To the Fond du lac(did I spell that right?) crew, Thanks for all your support. Sparky, Dan (Scallop53), Joe (Junkyard Dog 32), Denise, and Jill. Y'all are too cool! Lukester, you have to come to Austin and catch a Derailers show at the Broken Spoke! The Cheaters build bitchin' cars!!! What a great bunch of guys! I have dreams about Carls roadster! I think they stole Bob bleeds trailer!!!! Danger Danger!!! My old buddy Wingnutz. Great to see ya, thanks for the beers. Hope your tranny trouble in the late model works out. Sure wish I could have cut out for a day to visit Bobbleed. I didnt know I be so busy playing rock star, hahaha. Man it was great to see Mike and Kim Zenor. Theyre the most to say the least. Magnet never wore his Red pants! Dude, I gotta make it to the pile up. I Know I'm forgetting some one. Holy shit I'm tired, but inspired to build cool hot rods and write fun music. After the roundup and Green Bay, reality sure sucks! I gotta mow the lawn after work. Got some real good news from Mrs. Krupa though. She set me up with a line on a FREE 65 GMC truck while I was gone! I love her. Can you have too much fun?
Damn I wish I could have made it. I tried, but it just diddn't happen. Sorry dude. I really wanted to come. Damn. Rockabilly still sucks... hahahaha Cheater Chris got arrested in my parking lot hahaha....... I called the police on that fucker and hid in Burger's house... hahahaha
Hey Shawn - great to see you again, sorry we couldn't stay longer. Them damn Oneider slot mo-sheens stole all our money! Hope to see you again in a couple of months. Mike & Kim
Damn Krupa, a Free pickup in Texas!? And yes you Can have to much fun, Ive seen Bubba and Hankcash do it! ;-)
damn, i was supposed to go, instead, worked all week for car money, and spent teh weekend tossin 52 caddy fins and tailights ion my ride, INCLUDING gas filler tube to get rid of the ugly stock location...... all in all, i was better off here, LOL..... PLENTY of rockabilly shows in milwaukee, and since i saw wanda jackson 2 weeks ago, and jerry king on last sunday, i was fine... hope you alll had fun though, lets see some pics!
I dig man, not enough time in one life to do it all. Sorry I didnt get in touch before I headed up There was some major shit going down musically. Big Sandy with Los Straight jackets! No silly billy just plain Rock and Roll. In Spanish even. Ike Turner! WOW. He even has a Tina look a like with him! The Bobbets were sooo cool. I want to date one of em' The Comets are the true kings of Rock and Roll. Average age of 80 and still laying it down like they're all 16. No bull shit from those guys. They should be on Leno. I drank beer with the Crickets. Me and Sonny Curtis talked about Football and our backs going out. Jerry(JI ) Allison is a funny dude. Joe B bought me a Linney Red. Those guys were crazy when they toured with Buddy Holly. Trinny Lopez wanted to play with them until Jerry and Joe b got into a fist fight. Sonny had the hiccups while he was taking a piss so Jerry choked him because they had heard it would cure the hiccups. Sonny was drunk all ready so he passed out with his Johnson in his hand. JI thought he'd killed him. Shit they where funny. Cheater Chris still had your number written on his hand Saturday night. Fuckin' genius!
The Comets were madmen at Viva. Shit, my parent's are in their late 50s, and they don't move that fast! We made it as far as milwaukee on Saturday, but it took a whole tank of gas. I couldn't afford to go any further. PM Hellfish about the Pileup. I really want to get you up here.
Ike Turner was there? Now I'm bummed. Those early Ike and Tina records are the greatest. Did he Punch the Tina look alike in between every song? haha Sing like you have balls BITCH......... Damnit, Ike Turner rules. Holy shit I wish I would have known Ike Turner was going to be there. Have you ever heard that Kings of Rhythm album? Its AWSOME! Total instrumental soul. Too bad that guy is a fucked up mess........ I think he rules anyway.
Ike was entertaining to say the least. He got halfway thru "Tequila" when he realized he was in the wrong key. The Tina 2.0 clone had this very, very nervous look in her eye. For a 74 year old dude, Ike looks like he sure still enjoys a good muff-dive.
One of the real highlights was Barbara Lynn, who had an early 60s soul hit with "If You Should Lose Me". She and her left handed Strat rode the bus all the way up from Beaumont TX. Damn, that lady RULED. I was slayed by the Japanese rockabilly trio, Yoshi and the Something-or-Others. They were tight as hell, but I almost lost it when they started in on "Blue Moon": "Brew Moooorn, you sawr me standing arone..."
Barbara Lynn was fantastic with the Paladins backing her. You should hear Yoshi and the Something-Or Others (I forget too) CD. They gave me and Kevin copies on Monday after High Noons set. They should be commended for writing songs in English and I could definitely do no better in Japanese but the Lyrics are genius! "I'll be a good man to you just like Johnny Carson" "she goes to the market for veggie and daily product" And my fav. "she's my Texabilly Baby from the Lone STARE state"
"Barbara Lynn was fantastic with the Paladins backing her." what Barbara Lynn played? Oh shit my wife is going to die having missed that and with the Paladins (my 4 year old sons fav. band) damn...
Hey Shaun..., you're welcome here anytime...!!!!!!!! Thanks for bringing a tape of the first "Lone Star Roundup"...!!!! Did you give the band from Japan a CD of High Noon in Japan...????? "Domo origoto" Konichiwa...!!!!!!! (sp? )
It was a great time!!! Very nice to meet you Shawn and we will cross paths again but next time you won't be playing rock star so you can join in on the antics. Bob you suck. You really do suck!! You should have been there. We took the mullet wig and wore it backwards....it kinda looked like your hair so we told everybody it was you. Chris got arrested and he STILL made it....you can't hold him down. I love Japanese girls. Kawaii!!!!
Got some real good news from Mrs. Krupa though. She set me up with a line on a FREE 65 GMC truck while I was gone! I love her. Hey..., if I tell her I love her..., can I get a free truck...??? You have a Sweetheart of a wife...!!! But your driveway must be pretty full by now...!
"For a 74 year old dude, Ike looks like he sure still enjoys a good muff-dive.[/QUOTE] bwaa hah ha ha ha ha!
Shawn it was awsome meeting you, once before the arrest, and once after. The bands I saw were great. I had a great time, and I think my brother is still drunk. I did like staring at Kim Lenz... I wsh I would have gone to prison, it would have been my chance to have sex with men and not be called a fag for once. Later Sk8ters...
WOW! Holy Sh*t was that a great week!!!! I think I'm still drunk???? THANX!...krupanut(shaun)...Empire(Eitiene) for strippin my 52 (HIS FIRST strip job in America!!)....cheaters-for comin to my car show & givin the JAPS the "ride from hell",,,Phil Durand & Mark....The fond u lac crew & the cute gal that bought me that shot...and Zenor & "fancy pants" for the gearhead talk...And of course Wingnutz for introducing me to Lukester. If my show could have this many kool people I'd freak. I'm going to post a special post to show the work Empire32 did. It rocks. All bad-ass koolness & then I come back to work today to find out I'm losing my job!!!!!! WTF....Reality sucks....Well, back to livin my life through a comuter screen. See ya all @ the Nostalgia days ...NICK
The shows were great, the people were great and the slot machines still suck.Great to see you again Shaun. You were the only one I came to see but it would have been nice to see Jerry Lee Lewis, the Crickets, and the Comets. Hey Nick thanks for the beer!! and tell your friend with the bobber,it rocks. Luke I don't think I ever want to see you dip and spin JYD again. Magnet,I think you should have to wear them red pants all the time, not just at the pile-up.Maybe Luke would spin you too. I don't think Oneida has gone through that much Pabst since the day it opened. Dan
Wish I coulda made it but Johnnycola, Bobbleed and I had some serious work to get done. By the end of the weekend we had broken 2 golfcarts, torn down a shed, kicked down walls in some house, ran over my arm w/fourwheeler, ate several pizza's, listened to burger's techno (Say heckno to techno!), rebuilt 3 carb's, went sideways in johnny's hearse and finnally got the H-bomb running good. Did I forget anything?
I did make it for one day of music up in Green Bay. And from what I hear..., I missed a weekend Golf Cart Demo derby..., I wish that I could have seen the jungle run through the shed...! But at least I was there for some Hearse Sliden..., Pizza Slammin and One carb rebuild fun...! (The last one did the trick!!!) Glad to see the H-Bomb finally running STRONG...!!!!! Hope you heal up real soon...!
