Ok, I have searched and have not found what I needed. Maybe it's that I dont exactly know what I'm looking for. I have a 31 ford coupe with orginal I-beam axle in the front. The camber seems to be off but I have no idea how to adjust it. I'm pretty sure its camber as the outside of the tire is getting worn pretty good. In this picture the tire is not level with the floor at all. It is pitched in towards the bottom and out towards the top: I have no idea what to adjust here..
From what I have read the only way to adjust that is by bending the axle. I think the axle is supported on 2 points near the end of the axle. Then vertical pressure is applied at the center until the desired angle is reached. I think that some truck shops can do it. Bill
It looks like an aftermarket dropped axle, maybe a CE, maybe not. Some repro axles are not forged, some are cast. Those cast ones can't be bent to adjust camber.
Camber is built into all Ford OEM axles. It can only be adjusted by bending the axle, a procedure to be done by a frontend shop. Your axle is a modern aftermarket axle which doesn't change much as the camber is built into the axle at manufacture. The camber is the angle of the wheel out of vertical. Wear on the outside edges indicates an out of alignment problem, check toe-in at 1/8"-1/4".
Oh wow I was told orginal... Shows what I know... So basicslly if not toe then no adjustment. Thanks a lot guys!
there are axle drop shops (sids dropped axles did mine) that set the caster and camber with fixtures when they drop them. ( heat and force) I don't know about the casted/forged status of your axle, but one of them may ber able to help you ? Ramb
