So I have never done a cowl steering setup.... As a matter of fact, I have never done ANY steering setup.

I have a 1930 model A that my dad left me before he p***ed and he told me he was going to do a cowl setup for the steering but p***ed before he could show me how.

ANY suggestions or leads to websites that may be able to give me some idea of what I need to do this would be GREATLY appreciated! It will be turning the front end from a 1949 F1...

Will post pics of what I have to work with as soon as I have them.

    Thanks A Million!!!

It is involved, with many fabbed pieces, but not to difficult. Do a search here for cowl steering, there is alot of info and pics but you will need to spend some time looking.

The F-1 front axle will work but an earlier transverse style axle set-up would be a better choice..my .02

Mine is somewhat unconventional. In my typical re-engineer as you build fashion, I discovered my box was mounted too high. Rather than start over I built this contraption to fix the problem. One problem I see with the pictures of other cowl steering is the lack of foot room. Even in the famous Doane Spender car, it looks like there is no place for your feet. But then not everyone has size 13 like I do.

I did the cowl steering in my deuce roadster (HopUp 10) using a Schroeder 8to1 unit and did not like it as it steered hard at slow speeds. They now have a 16 to 1 reduction and it should work better. The main drawback to the Schroeder is the cost. There have been lots of good ideas on the HAMB which work well and are more cost efficient. Just make sure that your mounting is strong and that you put a lot of thought in your engineering. Ask questions!
