Bought a box of junk at an estate sale and these three clamp-looking tools were in the bottom of the box. No name on them and came with a bunch of new screw-in 'tips". Are these some kind of special welding clamp? Never saw anything like these before...
They are just a modified visegrip style C clamp. Probably used mostly for welding. Do you want my address I will never have enough clamping tools around.
Well duh, they are baked beans. I have a couple pairs of clamps like the ones pictured, use them quite a bit. Like ****** said, never have enough clamping tools.
if one of the "jaws' is slotted they're probably valve spring compressors for OHV heads. The "flat" jaw is placed over the valve head, the slotted head goes over the washer on the spring side. Bringing the handles together compesses the spring, and allows the collets which hold the washer in to be removed. releasing pressure on the handles allows the spring and washer to be removed without it flying all around your shop. Easy and safer to use than pushing down on the washer with 2 screwdrivers to 'pop' the collets. RodL
De-Sta-Co clamps. I have some of the straight ones. Those that you have would be handy for tube fabricating. http://www.destaco.com/products.asp?loc=USA&lang=ENG&products=Clamps
Don't you know, all the tools in the box are hammers - except the screwdrivers, those are chisels. And if you can't fix it with a hammer - it's an electrical problem.
Yup clamps, adjust using bolts thread in there. Not as handy as a vice grip but if you need a dedicated clamp like we do at work in jigs, they are handy. Also can make modified bolts to switch in and out so you don't have to ruin a vice grip, a lot of the ones we use have pins machined for lining up holes and ******* a part to a jig.
really? I'm not trying to be ***** but I've been twisting wrenches and hammered the odd rivet on aircraft for about 20 years and have never seen them before. Where do you guys use them?
These are vice grips/clamps. Guys who do fabrication and body work use them. My husband uses them every day.
