HELP! What Carb should I be running? BBC 454 mild motor. Maybe run a little more cam latter. 3000lb car 456 gear with PG trans. I want to run a Holley..maybe 750-850 with vac secondaries? any thoughts. I've never run a big block and never ran a mild engine either.

  2. I'd advise using a 750 vac secondary carb. The old Holley # 3310 is a good one to use. You can swap springs and jets fairly easy for tuning purposes.

  3. Holley 3310 would be good, as would an edelbrock 600 or 750. The eddies are nice because they are a bucket with no gaskets below fuel level. Very simple to work on, and very low maintainance.

Thats what I used on our 461 bbc, it would hesitate and stumble when you nailed it. Put the next size accelerator squirter in and its like a rocket now. Left all jetting alone straight from jegs.

750 cfm carb will work great. I am running a 454 in my Caddy. Stock long block with mild cam . I am using a edelbrock carb. Car runs great. If I keep my foot out of it I get 15 mpg but normal is about 10 mpg. Enjoy , You will love it.

Great choice on the 3310 Holley... That's what I would have done... Use a vacuum gauge to "fine tune" the idle mixture screws once you bolt the carb on... ;)
