Its official. The inaugural MVCC Fly-In show will take place on May 21st. The show is going to be ON the tarmac of the 2-mile runway of former Griffiss Air Force Base, in Rome NY. There will be several aircrafts on display, including military C-130, C-5, Chinook and other Helicopters. WITH A B52 FLYING OVER THE SHOW AT NOON!!! Also there will be hot air balloons, tours of the facilities, and airplane rides.

This show will couple a "fly-in" show for personal aircrafts, with a classic car/motorcycle show that will have a dedicated spot for HAMB friendly cars. (we have a HUGE amount of room)

The show hours are from 10am-5pm. There will be a pancake breakfast to benefit the College from 7am-9am. There will be plenty of food and vendors at the event. The Rome Marine Corps League will be hosting a chicken BBQ at the event with proceeds going to Toys for Tots.

This is a totally FREE event, and everyone is welcome. So those of you who can't make the Jalopy Showdown PLEASE make it to this show. They would like to make it an annual event, so the bigger the turn out this year the better! Spread the word!

I know I know.... I didn't set the date. So far i've heard Jalopy Showdown, college graduations, proms...all on the same date.

You guys that can't make it be sure to tell your buddies about it. Hopefully this thing will take off, and will be bigger next year. (if they change the date)

That'd be great, bring some buddies. By the way, there is a strong Canadien presence at Griffiss AFB.

    Show is tomorrow!!!
They should have plenty of signs, just incase they don't most of you will be coming in on Rt 49, take that to the Griffiss Park exit(Rt825), follow that road until you come to the stupid circle they put in the middle of the street, when you get to the circle turn Right onto Ellsworth Drive, follow that street past the bus garage and your there.

If anyone needs it my cell #315-271-3115

After a month of thrashing I got my car on the road today, I'll be the guy with the '53 DeSoto in need of a LOT of work.

    Hi Hillbilly

We made the show and I made a very quick walk though the cars and trucks that were there, yours was the Desoto I take it? We had our K&N car at the show and was so busy with all the kids wanting to set in it I never got back to check them all out and visit with the owners of them :( Hopefully this turns out to be a HUGE event in the future!!

Yeah, not a whole lot of cars and trucks in the car show area, maybe 15-20. I had a good time though. My DeSoto threw the fan belt on the way into Rome and started to heat up fast as soon as I got in the city, I had to shut her down outside the gates and go back for her. Luckily, NAPA had a replacement on the shelf. I really didn't get a lot of time to BS with anyone, when my wife and son got there I spent the whole time walking around the show.

I hope this show gets bigger every year. It really drew quite a crowd, I know every plane on display had a line of 50+ people waiting to get aboard. The C5 was insane.

I will post my pics tomorrow.
