OK, so I haven't been on here for AGES...but I think I have an excuse...I joined the Air Force!
So here I am, at the library at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX, and I think, you know what? I should check out the HAMB! And what do I find out? The Drags are this weekend! It makes me sick...you know, it's been a year since Tuck and I drove down to MoKan, where on the way there, I decided to do something with my life...we discussed all my options, and that's the weekend I decided to join!
I wish I could be there, but I'm not even allowed to wear anything but my BDU's on base--and getting off base isn't even a rational thought! So, Rocky, if you're thinking of kidnapping me or something, you're going to be grossly dissapointed!

Ha! you guys have fun! I'll be pretending to smell the smokey, smokey burnouts...

Well,it's good to her from you again.
Don't feel alone, I flew into Memphis to work at the
NHRA Natioanls, I'm so close to the HAMB Drags, yet so far away.
Stay in touch when you can.

You'll be able to go off base in a couple of weeks. Not that there's alot to see, lol. What's your AFSC? Former 90250, Desert Storm vet here. Hang in there it will get better. There is plenty of partying ahead.

HI Frisky, glad to hear you are doing good down there.

Missed you at 50's but not as much as Tuck did. He was like a lost soul without you by his side.

Take care and hope to see you soon.

I did some time there too, but it was like 20 yrs. ago...LOL..I feel old now thanks...

I was a 431** aircraft maintenance guy...which taught me much.

When I was in Wichita Falls, there was nothing to do off base but go to the mall..and since it's only been two decades, I ***ume nothing has changed.

Make friends with the ropes so you can sneak in through their windows after curfew. It works. There's always at least one cool rope.

Your civvies will feel really weird for awhile, and none of mine fit after Lackland.

The COOLEST part- Your life is in your own hands, your destiny is your own, and there's nothing you can't do.

I was also one of the youngest to get Honor Grad (I was 18yrs, 3 mos old at the time). Still have the keyfob somewhere..but it paved the way for me and I made the most of it.

Best of luck to ya and know you're on the right path.

WOW- How did she post under my radar? I am a hermit... I live and eat in my shop now... agghhh... I know for a FACT I hate being alone.

The hamb doesnt even taste the same without her... so yeah its bad.

I'll be heading back down to texas VERY SOON and ill definatly drop in ROOT and Sean... It'll be fun to get back down there again!

you guys dont know how PROUD I am to have joey working at being a RULER in the AF... She'll be able to give me REAL CPR the next time I inhale too much of HOK flake and p*** out.

Tech school for me was also at sheppard....accounting and finance....do they still have a govt resort at lake texoma?...the blue bus ride there and a cabin for the weekend was great, and very cheap...I think you needed 4 or 6 people to get a cabin...cheap govt boat rentals...lots of beer and campfires......sometime I'll tell the story of almost getting a screwdriver in my back at the gokart track on a parade field on base....fun with texan rednecks [IMG]

    You guys RULE!!!
    Thanks sooo much!
I'm just a lowly A1C, but what I think I MIGHT do is get my RN, and try to become an officer...THAT would be cool. Oh! And my AFSC is 4N031--I'll have my 3-skill after I graduate, and my 5-skill after I OJT--they keep saying Wright-Patterson or Luke or Lackland (for another SEVEN weeks-Wilford Hall ring any bells?--ick!) and then HOPEFULLY back home for more OJT at the 934th in Minneapolis for another 30-160 days--and THEN I can be eligable for PROMOTION! Senior Airman in a year? Yeah, I can do it...
Root--once I'm in phase three, I hear OKC is only like two hours away...maybe I'll have to visit!
Oh, and for those of you who've been here, I don't think much HAS changed! All I ever hear about is Graham's and the mall. But as for myself, I still haven't been allowed the privillage of being off base...ha! Oh, and I think I DID hear something about Lake Texoma, and camping, and cool stuff like that...phase three, my friends, phase three...
Hope the Drags are fun--oh, and Tuck had better win that raffle--the Galaxie needs some SPEED!
    -Jolene
PS-Have I really been off for SO long that I don't recognize, like ANYONE'S name? wierd...

There is no member of the World's Finest Air Force that is lowly. You are doing important things for America and yourself. Persevere and there are no limits.

Congrats on getting this far in your training and like what was said there is no lowly job when you are serving your country. The satisfaction isn't found in your pay check a good portion is in how you feel about what your doing.
My father served in the Air Force for 33 years before retiring and he was a patriot to the end. What ever you do in the future make take advantage of everything you can now to prepare yourself for the rest of your life.
Take care and I'll be thinking good thoughts about you and your future.
