Welcome from another Melbournite. Coupe sounds good. Mazda should be able to provide a steering column for starters. Are you planning full rego or SR plates? I'd check with an engineer before going too far if you want full.

Had my first meeting with engineer yesterday regarding my 28A modified. Very worthwhile couple of hours. Given me a renewed enthusiasm and some direction to take. They're not there to knock you back, they're there to help you make it happen. Also, they have the magic pen that can get you on the road. If you haven't got this do***ent yet check out www.dotars.gov.au and search Street Rod. It's the national construction guidelines (very similar to the $40 ASRF book)

Thanks for the reply I have joined ASRF and I have downloaded the dotars manual
Having made mistakes before I will be a tad more cautious with this project and take my time Have to check out what the previous guy has done and make sure its up to the mark He was pretty fussy and being a boilermaker/welder his work looks very pro Dont think I will attempt to do the welding myself maybe just get things set up and tacked into place then get a pro to finish the job

You sound like you have a fair amount of experience and reading your profile I am the same having been away from rods 25 years or so
I need to fit a parallel 4 bar in the coupe and mount a front rack and pinion to L300 front end Any suggestions? Who makes a reasonable 4 bar and who can ***ist with the steering fitting.
How goes your project? What stage is it at? regards Col

  13. Col. You'll probably find more ***istance on the Aussie Cruizin' site or the Aussie section of the RRT.......unless we can persuade you into some style by binning that L300 and rack and pinion!! The HAMB concentrates on hotrodding with an older, more faithful twist.
