I will be picking up a new project this week a 41 Chevy pickup, and am planing on putting in a small block chevy motor in it and I am going to changing out the rearend in it and was wondering if anybody would know what 9" or 12 bolt rearend would work Thanks
Check out the 8.8 rear ends in the Ford Explorers. Same design as the Chevy 12 bolt and a lot cheaper. Most have disk brakes and positraction. Junk yards around here get $175 for the complete unit. Changing the spring perches is a simple weld in.
Second that on the Explorer. We put one in a '41 chevy P.U. in an afternoon. Cut off and moved the spring pads and made some simple shock mounts; took a little over three hours. The truck had a 350/350 in it and the drive shaft fit with just a new U Joint.
I will be running a different front end so the bolt pattern should not matter, are you taking a late 90's rear,
