I know for a fact that the first production runs of the repops had problems
(bullets falling out, etc.) They did correct some things and newer ones should not have any problems. I have never had a problem with mine - and they have been on for over a year now...

I saw the first run of the Moon spiders a couple years ago in Paso. Plastic, crummy. I had heard they updated them, buy haven't seen them.

I did hold in hands a set of the Speedway spiders. Heavy, metal, and shiny. I will be buying a set.

I just finished installing a set on our 31 that has chrome reverse wheels. We have the speedway ones. The spider cap itself is pretty decent, however the design of the retainer ring is terrible!!!. The lug holes in it are SLOTTED, why, I dont know. Prepare to spend some serious time with a small die grinder to open up the narrow sides of the slotted holes. They will end up being round and just a little (.010 or so) larger than the tapered lug hole in your wheel. You want the lug nut to slightly pinch the retainer to keep everything concentric and tight. If Speedway had stamped the holes in the retainer round and on the bolt pattern you order everything would have bolted up perfect! I am sure the old Cal-Custom spiders were not made like the re-pops!good-luck,Dale

    Question.

I have chrome lug nuts. Will I need to change them out to regular ones in order for the caps to work? Thanks,

I put a set from Wirth's Custom Automotive on a buddy of mine's 62 Impala and they have held up with out any problems, had to cut down some rubber and cement them between the cap and the mounting plate that goes behind the lugs, no problems with fitting. They are $175 for a set of four which was a hell of a lot cheaper than moon a year or so ago. www.wirthscustomauto.com - Good Luck.

Pricing is much cheaper now because they are being produced in larger numbers. No matter who you buy them from you will be getting the same thing - they are all produced by the same manufacturer over in China...
