I need to have my 8ba flywheel re-drilled for my new clutch to fit my 39 toploader and I am looking for someone that is knowledgeable in the denver area. I went to a local machine shop and I felt a little uncomfortable with his reaction. He didn't have a clue as. Of how to get a measurement of the bolt circle. I was going to give him a drawing on cad and he said that he could work with that.

what does it typically cost to have a flywheel re-drilled?

It is probably a 2 hour job on a Bridgeport mill since the vise will probably have to come off and go back on. Most shops have an hourly charge but should give you a firm price up front. I would do it for free just for the coolness factor of working on something that old!

There are a lot of shops around here that could do it, especially if you have some CAD info. I use a lot of shops for work, but from what I have been seeing, a lot of them are pretty busy right now, so some of the larger shops may not want to do it.

I would look for a smaller shop, I give JD Machine in Broomfield a lot of business, they are a small father & son shop that turns out great work.

If you can't find anyone Fort Wayne clutch can build you a custom clutch or modify your flywheel.

Start asking around and you'll probably find someone who has a small machine shop in their garage. Don't be afraid of asking one of the 'big' shops who they send their onesy-twosy stuff to.

If you can supply the clutch, as noted above, it is about 2 hours on a Bridgeport. Seriously not a big deal to do

That is an excellent idea. I wish I had more tooling for my cnc at work I would do it but I don't have cones with collets to hold bits

I would want the clutch and the flywheel. Tactile 3D is more accurate that a 2D drawing. I agree though.... more time in set up that actual work. One hour at the most.
