I am looking at turning my 3600 into a halfton on a 65 c-10 frame. Would that be worth doing or keeping it a 3600? The truck is in good shape just a few small dings and the wood is gone in the bed. I was going to use a 65 shortbed stepside that I have 3 of and will not miss one.

there is a thread recently about putting a big truck 55 or 56 cab on a 69 half ton ch***is. Looks like it worked out ok.

I'd probably leave it a 3/4 ton because I already have a few half tons. Swap in an 80s rearend to get a reasonable gear ratio. Wouldn't be much of a hot rod though.

I did all the measuring and know it will work. I just cant make up my mind to keep it a 3600 because I will probably sale the truck and did not know if it would bring more one way or the other.

Sounds like a lot of work to try to make a buck.

I just did not know if people would like the halfton better. I will probably just sale the truck as is. I have a bunch of cars I want to get rid of so I can find a model a roadster.

I'm partial to this particular model (I'm working on a '56 3600). I think doing a frame swap kills any resale value. The first thing to do on one of these as far as hot rodding is to get rid of the rear-end (I needed a cherry picker and a second person to move it), and get a lowered, more modern front end suspension.

I have two rear ends for mine, one is an 8.5" 10 bolt from a 71 camaro, the other is a 9" from a 60-66 Ford F100. I havent decided which I'm using. The front suspension is going to be a heavy duty Mustang II. I just finished building a Chevy 383, and am going to use a 700r4 transmission.

"Wouldnt be much of a hot rod?" It will have the stiffer frame, 450 horsepower, a mean looking lowered front end, and look awesome in primer with red steelies. I think it will make an awesome hot rod.

Sounds prety good. I am going some time with a guy I know back to his home town to look at some old mans place that he said has hundreds of cars and truck and none are newer than the 40's. He told me there were some model a roadsters. I will probably try to sale a bunch of cars to see if I can buy some cars from him. He said that he was going to tell him he was going to buy them because he and his granddad were friends and will sale to him but not me.
