so i got this offer yesterday to trade my 56 olds for this 1948 TRIUMPH what do you guys think the wife really does not want me to do the trade b/c her father wanted my 56 right before he passed away this passed oct .. i think it would be a great come up but at the same time i really like having a wife haha...
When we were young the wife had a pillow that she threw on the fender. But alas that was before air bags. I would give a nut for the Trumpet but as stated your wife is going to be disappointed. If you were my club brother I would tell you that that didn't matter but you are not and it does matter. Ask him if he wants a '38 Ford.
Lets start another poll: You want to keep the wife: YES_____ NO_____ you don't give a shit one way or the other________ Ball is in your court Frank
Frankly,I think you are asking the wrong people and the one person you should listen has already stated their opinion. The bike is cool but keeping peace is more important. HRP
Go for the flames......then sell it.....buy a 2dr Olds......paint it flat black....then every one is happy.....
i get offered to trade my car for nice bikes all the time... but at the end of the day, i like taking my family in my car..cant do that with a bike... keep the car...
A good bike not hard to find. But a good wife that hole new game. Think of what you got to lose over what you got to gain!!!
I shouldn't say this but flames on a scooter is bad karma. Uh please don't ask how I know that. If it weren't for the lady in the house that would be a rightious trade. Well it would be if the trader is able to keep an old Trumpet running. They are a work and ride proposition. I would do my best to keep mama happy.
I was thinking the same thing as Phil and since you are married your wife should have an equal say in the trade.
thats a cool triumph, I am working on a 51 t-100 that my dad bought in the 60s.. I think I would keep the olds though. Like everyone has said, its nice to be able to put the chairs and cooler inside, and have a place to sit at the carshows..
If you buy the bike your wife will park her pretty lil' butt on it and you will never see either one again! Really cool lookin' Olds.
What are the chance/likelyhood that you'll be able to build a car to replace the olds? Why not just start searching for your own bike project? IMHO my bike projects seemed to be easier to come by, require less space to work on and store unfinished, cheaper to put together. I put together a pre-unit Triumph and a BSA on the cheap in a condo garage back in my college days.
Keep the Olds and the wife. If the Triumph was worth much the owner would sell it to a collector and buy the car.
