i've searched on here and found a lot of nice threads about reversed steelies, and even where to buy them, but i already have the complete set on my '58 ford. but they're painted metallic blue (rattle can), and im sure there are a few other colors underneath it.

im in bakersfield CA, not sure if anyone in or around the so-cal area knows of any places, but would it be cheaper to send out my wheels to some place and just have them chromed, vs. buying a brand new set that'll put me back quite a bit? i have a few things on my want list i need to get first, like finishing up my 460 swap, and then doing the disc brake conversion for my 58, so the wheels arent my top priority at the moment, but just curious!

Only way to chrome them correctly is to pull them apart first. strip, polish, then chrome the pieces and re-***emble the wheel. If you try to chrome all together the chrome will not settle into the seam where the center meets the hoop.New chrome wheels would be cheaper...Give me a call and I can see if I can help you out.. 805-772-7997

This^. Give wheelkid a call and get a quote and compare that to your chromer's quote and there you have it.

My buddy just went through this. It took forever and cost a small fortune to get his stock steel wheels pulled apart and chromed then put back together. While they turned out VERY nice I'd still just buy new wheels.

Plus, you'll be able to sell your stock '58 wheels if that's what you have, they're a 1 year only wheel and a complete matching set is probably worth $100, would help offset the cost of your new wheels a bit.
