Trying to make an early hot rod impression on a 2.5yr old. I see a ton of hot wheels that are for 3yr and up. This kid is pretty keen and not one to **** on toys but not sure where the mom stands on that yet.
    Sooo..

Any recommendations on what I can pick up. I want to get it by this weekend so major stores is going to be the way to go.

So if anyone has some advice, links, or links to previous threads discussing this please let me know..

    Thanks!

Brio train sets have cars that will run on the tracks along with the trains, they make good toys, plus they're wood, so he'll be alright if he decides to gnaw on 'em.

Just a simple shape wooden car is awesome too, when they're that little, just the fact that it rolls is a big deal. I spent lots of time on the floor rolling cars back and forth with my kids.

x2 on the pedal car. We bought my 2 year old son (at the time) one. He loves it. We also bought him hot wheels as well, he loves those too.

My son has a couple of newer Tonka trucks with the plastic parts, along with several old ones of mine and others I've picked up at yard sales. If my boy can't break the plastic ones then they should be good for your kid (my boy plays hard with his trucks:p)

These are rad. You saw the ones I have in my office, right Lugo? Really good quality but some small parts for a 2 or 3 yr old. You can't go wrong with a basic Hotwheels or Matchbox at that age.........I took some track and a bunch of Hotwheels back home for my 2 1/2 yr old Niece at Christmas and she spent the whole week running back and forth sending those little rods down he track and through the loop...... Keep it simple and he'll love it.

Pedal cars are great because they can be used as a baby coach with a little modification, then brought back to pedal car status when baby gets to be 3-6 years old. They look great, kids and adults love 'em and they don't get anything but more expensive the longer you keep 'em and never ever go out of style.
I wish I had done mine up for the kids...now 35 year old twin girls and 26 year old boy...maybe I'll do them for the grandkids, girls 3 and 2 1/2 and boy 2 1/4.

  20. Buy him all the damn Hot Wheels you can afford! We have mine and the ones my younger brother had but LilT has about 200 more than either of us ever dreamed of! Better life for our kids man.

And yes, dad has some in the gl*** bookcase that we can not mess with

Think reverse psychology. buy him a lowered Honda with 6" tailpipe and under car glow lights, then when he gets older he'll rebel and want a real hot rod.

however the pedal car idea does certainly ring a bell with me also. I actually remember the day I outgrew my pedal car 56 years ago. I was distraught. I finally was able to build a new one however. aka Bucket T.

I had every kind of car as toys in the early 70's, still ended up liking hot rods and customs best-
