I came a across a older B&M 144 supercharger from a freind for a few hundred bucks that I'm thinking about buying. It spins perfect with no hang ups so I decided to pull the end cap off and check the bearings......real long story short is it needs to be rebuilt, like I said it spins nice so that would tell me the gears are good and the rotors also spin perfect and do not hit. A rebuild kit form supercharger USA is $133(on ebay) and that includes everthing. Sooooo to get the the question, is this supercharger easy to rebuild or do I need to ship it to supercharger USA and pay the damn 400 to 500 to have them go through it?? Has anyone worked with one of these before that has experience with how they come apart, specs on clearances and info like that??

    Thanks for any advice guys

well you said it spins great. But then you said the bearings need replaced? Is that the new math?

Personally, i would check with a feeler gauge the rotor-to-case clearance and rotor-rotor clearance. If there are no gouges and they spec good, then why does it need rebuilt?

Is this blower a teflon stripped model? (On the rotor tips)

Yes it has the teflon on the edges and there is no gouges on the rotors. The bearings in the end cap are usable but the seal and that spring loaded ring seal have come all apart. So yes it spins real nice with no prob just all the seals are shot. I thought why I was putting seals in it I might as well go through the thing now and not later just to save myself from having a problem in the future.

I'll give that web site a try.....thank you very much.
