James warren one of the orignals, legendary warren coburn and miller top fueler, known as the ridge route terrors p***ed monday may the 16th. I watched them race here at the orignal march meets in bakersfield and watched them race at lions and other southern calif tracks. He will be missed. Blessings to his family. PICTURES ARE FROM 68 AND 69 ORANGE COUNTY AND LIONS LAST PICTURE IS OF GARTLITS AND THE TERRORS Foot JUST WANTED TO ADD THIS KOOL STORY , WAS PART OF THE STORY IN BAKERSFIELD PAPER. STORY GOES OTHER RACERS WOULD HAVE SPOTTERS POSTED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RIDGE ROUTE ON THE SOUTH SIDE TO WATCH WHEN THEY TOWED OVER WHICH FREEWAY THEY WOULD TAKE TO KNOW WHICH TRACK THEY WERE GOING TO, THEN THE OTHER RACERS WOULD HEAD TO THE OTHER TRACK TO RACE. I GUESS THAT MEANS THEY WERE BAD ***. SO THE NICKNAME RIDGE ROUTE TERRORS. FOOT
Man - Warren , Coburn , And Miller - the ridge route terrors were one of the greats. The Rain FOR Rent Top Fueler was well known and always a first cl*** operation. We lost Roger Coburn back in December. Godspeed James
That photo by Asher of them sitting in the shop with parts hanging on the walls is great. That was a point in time where everyone was cool. Just look at their expressions, they didn't mind the camera,,,just sitting and being racers. Great pics,,and sorry to hear about his p***ing. Tommy
...Not much to add, James and Roger were legends and more, forgot how many times I saw them run...no drama, no egos, just solid performance, year after year...
RIP James, love to have been born early enough to have seen you guys run, Im a huge fan of those early FED's, Thats when men were really men.
It is amazing to think that local racers such as this team could compete in the top cl*** in drag racing against the best in the nation and with hard work be a serious contender for a win every time they showed up. This was also in the era when a 16 car field had that many if not more on the trailer after qualifications. RIP Mr Warren
I was never a huge top fuel fan, but the WCM car was always my favorite...maybe the David vs. Goliath thing. RIP Jim...you jumped the light and got home too soon this time.
Roger was my neice's uncle I have showed her that pic. she remembers being in that garage and the car and all the parts everywhere. Two regular guys
I've got that picture hanging in my shop and love to show it to youngins who can't believe that the top guys back then didn't have shops like John Force. Godspeed Mr. Warren you were a**** the best. Frank
