Well Hagerty approved me for insurance and all I have to do is send them the $$$ on pay day and then I can get the tags to my car when I get the proof of insurance. The interior, heater/ac, air bags still needs to be done to the car but I am going to start driving it anyway! I put the wheels and tires on tonight Here are a couple other recent pics too. Front grill with the bumper on A Couple of the engine
yeah...hehehe...SBC and not attempting to make it look old I am going to catch crap...oh well When I find the right air cleaner and valve covers I will switch those out...but I am not in a hurry.
That's cool man. Your website proves you put a lot into it. I like the way the grill and bumper is done. Looks mean! It prolly sounds pretty mean too.
I was just bustin your balls. I love those coupes that year. Hey, you need some skirts for that puppy?
I am really happy how the grill turned out! I pulled off the teeth and they polished up really nice! the grill had a lot of rust and the chrome was peeling badly (someone told me 52 was a bad year for chrome due to a nickel shortage...old wise tail...who knows). anyways I can't afford to have it re-chromed right now so I sanded the hell out of it and painted it flat black...thought I would go flat instead of semi gloss like the car... a lot of work from a lot of GREAT people went into this car...
I ran an add in the local paper "wanted to buy 49-54 chevy. call me with details and prices" this is in a TINY town and I had around 10 people call me...it was crazy...This one was sitting across from the high school I went too in a drive way with cats living in it.
The guy who sprayed it told me what kind of paint it was...the person he bought it off of said it is tough stuff...he said it was thick to spray too...and he didn't like that it turned out so satin/semi gloss...I told him don't touch it...I like it! I will call him and find out what kind of paint it is... well I have to get back to moving...yuck! thanks for the kind words everybody...
Lotus, kool grille. If you don't mind, i may use that kustom trick on my grille. I bought my 52 w/ already blk painted grille...Need to add "flare" to that darkness. (looks like a mouth) In my opinion, the skirts look better....ON. are red wheels Final?? I painted mine blue to match my roof. Maybe chrome reverse or trim rings/ lugnut may compliment your 52's chrome??? Thanx for the ideas....Nick
I have the belt line trim...I just need to put it on and I have lake pipes too. I am hoping that is enough to offset all the black.
take some pics of the grill when it is done...can't wait to see it! yeah I am probably putting the skirts back on...need to see if they will rub though. The red wheels are final. They are powder coated red. I have chrome lugs on it already (hard to see in the pic) and when the belt line trim is on and the lake pipes are on I am hoping that is enough chrome to tie everything together...
I put the airbags, the beltline chrome and the lake pipes on for, plus I added a little scallop or two, it needed something to break up all the black.
Do what 4t64rd did...it transforms the car from rocka-roo to cool. Put some of these on there (54-55 Stude) w/ some bullets in the center and you'd be a ruler. **Edit** I'm a retard. Got so caught up in my little styling rant that I forgot to tell you how nice it looks.
The car looks really nice - I'm hoping to do the same style with either a ford or chevy of the same year.
It is lower but the driveway exagerates it... here it is before lowering after lowering...had to take the skirts back off. they rubbed when taking corners
The car looks great. It is also nice to see such a commitment to get the car to its current condition. Congrats on a great job. Were you thinking of chopping the top. I know that is not for everybody, but I guess it is just something that I would have to do.
lotus, the car looks good, even without a chop. what paint is that? it looks like semi gloss. i like the way it looks and was just curious to what it is.
