has any one come across a 292 y-block dress-up kit.....i have done some searching but comen' up empty handed ....

  2. As such, no. There are quite a few options in terms of rocker covers, three different finned valley covers, etc., but no "all-in-one" kit.

There are stamped steel chrome rocker covers available for relatively low $$, if that's a factor. You can find them on eBay or Summit's web site. The pricing varies widely on eBay, but the covers are all the same so far as I know, so shop wisely. I see that Trans-Dapt & Spectre now offer Y covers for considerably more money- I don't know if they rebox the same ol' cover you see on eBay, or if they make a better product.

Vintage Speed, Moon, Offenhauser, and John Mummert all have new cast aluminum covers, and you can also get reproduction Thunderbird covers. There have been other ones in the past from Edelbrock, a**** others, and they pop up occasionally.

Mummert, Vintage Speed, and Steve Sellers all have finned valley covers...I would verify that the cover is actually in stock before you plop down your credit card.

thanks guys...how about pullies and timing cover, etc.

  5. Frank Rice makes an aluminum water pump and timing cover, which can be purchased directly from him or from John Mummert. Frank is on here occasionally: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/member.php?u=73092

In regards to pulleys, I use repainted stock ones...there are billet blower crank pulleys made for F-code cars which can be adapted, or I've also seen other FoMoCo billet pulleys modified to work.

Do either of these photo's get your interest? They are both Ford factory engines from '56 in my shop that year. They both belonged to the Ford Pico Rivera Plant Racing Unit manager. But they were factory stock. I see some on occasion at Swap Meets or Auto Specialty Shows here on the west coast.
