maybe the old man will die in the middle of the build and you can keep the car..... yeah i know a little morbid but what the F$%k.....we are opertunists
W O W !!!!! I have a friend who owns a rod shop and has a customer that has about the same story about a 34 coupe. Long story short I now have a droped (dago style) axel with juice brakes, Dirty31 could have the steering box. Sad thing about the memorys is it now has a mustang2 and bling bling. The body still looks sweet !!!
Unfuckingbelievable! All I can say is wow! Titus, you're one lucky guy to even be able to work on it. How cool is that! While your working on it. Drain the oil out of that flathead and Fill it up with Marvels Mystery oil. If it was me, I would buy five gallons of it and use it 100% strength. Maybe by the time your ready to start on the engine it will be ready to either disassemble or fire up. great story! Cool cool car. I just noticed... That engine must have been running without a fan.
WOW what a cool story. Gonna be so much fun and to look at the guys face when you get it all back rite for him again. Gonna bring back so many memories for him.
That's just cool!! thanks for the great story, just makes you wonder what in your neighborhood.. I know of a couple like that, but the old timers are still collecting dust on them and not ready to put them on the road... Great to see a old hotrod come back to life.. Please keep us up to date!
cool car and cool story........ makes you wonder... alot of those guys that went to high school in the 50's are gettin on a bit (a lot!) how many of these things are gunna start popping up? or is that just wishfull thinking???????????????
Good example of what they REALLY were like back in the day, no changes throug the year, no modern upgrades. A real step back in time. Amazing how many are showing up the last few years.
you should do a righteous burn out to thank the gods of hot rodding and offer them a case of beer as sacrifice...
WOW!!!! You just never know who. I took my grandpa to the VA the other day and another guy made conversation with us. The first thing I asked him is if he had any old cars. He didn't but you never know when....
Nice story. Hope some of the mag types in here pic up on it and give you a shout. Now it's time to pick that guys brain....the who, what , where's and when's of his day....he will remember a guy who new a guy and the next thing ya know, another car gets found. The thing about not washing the dirt off is really cool. Do whatcha gotta do to get it back on all four and in the wind...drive it a year or two and then paint, polish and plate it AS WAS WHEN FIRST BUILT. The guys who built these cars did all they could afford. Riding it around rusty to show how it was found is cool, ultimately putting it back THE WAY IT WAS is a tribute.
Wow. Just plain . . . wow. Reminds me of the "Linda's Coupe" story in Rodder's Journal a few years back, except this one is still in the original owner's hands. Can't wait to see pics of it back on the road!
'Kin A, Titus. Remember, next year is the 50th anniversary of the GSTA Show. Might have time. It's the right era -- I'll check my stack of Cars & Clubs magazines tonight and see if I can find pix. Steve
OMG!! Makes you wonder how many MORE are out there! I have a similar story but don't know much of the details about a friend of mine who picked up a bone stock 34 chevy 3-window coupe from some old stingy guy that usually doesn't get rid of anything that he owns. The roof is now chopped and is running a BB. He also has a pair of 59 Elkys, but I think they are only good for parts. Hoping I can get some parts from him when he croaks hehe. Anyway, please keep us posted on the 32!!
Best. HAMB Post. Ever. Really, somebody needs to contact Steve Coonan at TRJ to do a feature on this... this is every bit as cool as that survivor '29 Roadster that was uncovered in Texas last year and that Steve Wertheimer now owns.
Possession is 9/10th of the law. Jeff, I will be down to drop off those 3 axles then I can check this thing out in person. Very cool.
Neat! I think restoring it to the way it was in high school would be cool. Down to the very last detail... Imagine going to your 50th HS reunion to see something that looked the same as it did back then... a mind blower it would be. Sam.
I took my roadster to my 30th reunion, and a couple of other guys (also single) had tri-five Chevys. The girls really liked them! Mutt
Boy!! Does that remind me of when I went to get my 5w. It had been stored for over 10 years. That was almost 30 years ago. At least I wipe it off now and then. Frank
hey awesome story leave it alone make it run. change anything on it than OLSKOOL is gone for good and so is the true memories
