Event Coverage A few Rust Revival pictures

  1. Does look like it was good overall, I DO NOT take back my first remark. Todd, next year have some Scarlet letters printed out and stick em on the shitboxes. Something everyone but the mouth breathers understand ;)

I had a great time as always, Its funny everytime I read one of these post Its someone that was not at the show complaining about the amount of Rats or non traditional cars at the show, Todd and the gang do a great job putting on this show and This year it did seem like there was more Junk entered compaired to nice cars, the one way to fix this is for the guy's with nice cars to get them out of the garage rain or not and outnumber the Rats,

About it being more about the money for these guy's I don't feel that way at all, It takes a lot of money to put a show on and get the entertainment that they do to the show, When they forcast rain and people stay home the money has to come from somewhere to pay for it all, If they would have turned these guys away the last 4 years and then this year they forcasted rain and 100 guys kept there cars at home so they did not get wet, Todd would have taken it in the ASS!! I know a couple guys that this happened to and one went bankrupt and lost his business,

For me its about three things

    1) The People
    2) The Drive
    3) The Good Time's

I can walk past the junk and I can spread the word to those that are asking questions wanting to build something,

Hats Off to Todd and the Kropdusters,

Had an absolute blast at the show. For me it was more than the cars, it was the people, the music, the atmosphere. I got laid off Friday morning and was so bummed out about it until I realized I could hit up the revival and so glad I did! Caught up with some old friends, met some new ones, and will definitely be back next year! Thanks Kropdusters for putting on one helluva show!

Not really sure if this last stement was directed towrds me or not, but this is the first RR I ever missed, and i missed it because of all the rat rods in prior years and also weather forcasts, I could care less about the rats there this years as I was not there to have to witness them . I know a lot of cool cars do show up, and cool people. I just feel the rats bring every aspect of these shows down a bit thats all. And as for my money statement, it may have been out of line, but greed is a more common occurance ever day. You guys keep posting how I should be there, participate, help out etc. I have and just chose to voice my opinion on it all. Sorry if you don't like it, but it is how I feel. And if I feel next year is going to be full of rats, then chances are I will notgo again, who knows? Again, it's not really fair to make a nice street rod park outside of town and all those rats get in. Judgeing by many pics I've seen, many of the cars have new style billet wheels etc with faded paint etc, is that a traditional rod??

First off thanks Breeder and Kropdusters for a fun show and a good time!

We got stuck parked next to this guy and had to hear about his pile shockrod all day. He told everyone it was to far gone to restore but I guess it was easier to make it stupid. It got more pics taken than damn near any other car I noticed.

It seems like the old Goodguys types are building these shockrod/junkrod/ratrods.

I take a nice car to the shows and I try to get people to go to the shows with nice cars to help support these shows..... I don't let other cars dictate if I should go to a show...... I go to have fun, enjoy the drive, enjoy the company of friends, and look at the cars that I enjoy..... I thought that was what this is about......

A couple of things I've noticed:

A lot of local shows have added a "ratrod" class and I see a lot of traditional cars, including HAMB members, would rather be there than with the street rods.

At these traditional shows, if you run with the right club, you can get in with a Prius.

I would have liked to have made it to the RR this year but like a lot of other people, the ride is half the fun and the threat of bad weather kept me home.

Drove up from TN to see my brother Vagabonds and the Reeds. Coming back from Afghanistan and finally making it to a Rust Revival was kinda a bonus for me. Didn't think I'd be home in time Got some free beers, sold a few cookbooks had a good time in general. Had as much fun listening to DaTinman making fun of the turds as I did looking a the rest. Bands rocked and people were overly kind to this old soldier. Had a blast Todd. Thanks

I see no blame laid on the show promotors. Single out the owners of these poorly built/designed rides and let them know that the word 'car show' does not always mean free for all. There are many other venues that welcome the extreme taste in auto expression. RE-CLAIM the HAMB!

yeah no fault of the Folks in charge, in fact I noticed that they were working as a somewhat well oiled machine!

The dudes in charge of parking were more than accomidating when I asked if I could park somewhere not in a mudhole to tear the carb and ignition out. Thanks a ton fellas!

So the people who own those pieces of shit actually paid to have them on display? If I was an organizer I would take their money and then put them all together in the furthest point away from the entrance.

I made it to Revival for the past two years. Hated to miss it this year and for sure won't miss it next year! Breeder and the gang put on a heck of a nice event. One of my favorites.

Oh, and I'm kind of surprised Bob K's Chevy hasn't been across the pond yet. I mean it's been dang near every other place. Must have a bajillion miles on it by now. :D

  18. Breeder: you where very brave to put on a car show at the same time as the rapture.

Try it and see how far it gets you. Breeder is right. Many people completely interchanged "traditional" and "rat rod" and have no idea of the difference, even when staring at examples of each side by side. I've been running the Pileup for 10 year and Breeder has been doing the Rust Revival for 5 years or so. We know what we're talking about. Now, I see a lot of great cars in the background...

I wish I could have been there!

I don't understand how a guy, who is registered to a "car forum" could even begin to call themselves a "car guy" and speak such words.

Honestly - EVERY Car show out there is important, regardless of how they evolve. The less car shows, the more Government.

Breeder - I wish I could have been there but I blew my wad on Topeka Summer Nats tickets with the Wife. We will be there Next Year and I'll be sure to have the fam bring some old cars to look at.

From what I gather of the photos, that little town is just chalk full of Charm! Love it!

  27. That's the dumbest fucking thing I've ever heard. Just don't post a weepy R.I.P. thread when his shock mount breaks at 60mph and he cartwheels it into oncoming traffic. I have fixed so many customer cars that were built by "professional" or "reputable" shops that were so badly built, and so poorly engineered, that I've lost count. Some of them look they were built at the end of a keg party with a closet full of coat hangers and a stick welder. And they wonder why they're constantly hassled by the cops? Dude, it's not the pompador hair or the tattoos that's getting you pulled over, it's the fact that you're a danger to everyone else on the road.

If you're building Turd cars merely for the shock value, then you might want to consider a different hobby, like barnyard porn.

  30. It's cool, my bad. Sorry to gas off on ya. I just spent the better part of the last few weeks trying to fix all of the awful workmanship on a POS '47 Ford truck for a customer in Australia. The only way to really fix it would be to wad it up in a ball and start over. It was that bad. Everything was wrong and the quality was so bad my 16yr old could have done better. The Aussie bought the car sight unseen from a Craigslist ad. I felt bad for the poor guy, but I think he has learned his lesson about impulse buying without having someone trustworthy over here in the States to give it a look-over.
