I know right! I have been trying to put in as much work as I can on it. I have the wheel wells now and the bottom quarter patches so hopefully this weekend I can finish those up and start on the engine and trans.
Yeah I agree! I did, if you look, the windshield has been taken out and I re-did the seal around it and put it back in. Wouldn't touch that army decal!
love the chopped top frame ...can you get some real close ups of the cuts you made and where the frame bends to fold down so i can get and idea how im going to make mine thanks.
The top is now in Lorodz hands. After mocking it up, it just looked wrong to me so he bought it plus it gave me a little cash to spend elsewhere.
She is going to go down more when I drop the engine in so I might have to drop the rear an inch or two to compensate but I'll take pics after the engine goes in and see what it looks like.
Update! I work alot and can only work on the cars a little at a time but I did get the motor/tranny in the roadster. I have spent the last three weeks tweaking the body, adding the proper braces from the factory and trying to get the body square on the frame so the doors/trunk would shut like they should. I finally got it done and the body is mounted and shimmed. Wheelwells can now go in but I wanted to put the motor in first. Also my intake and carbs from a fellow hamber. Pops came over to lend a hand. Guard Dog!!
You have some good taste brother. Your coupe is one of my favorite cars, and this roadster is quickly moving towards the top of the list. The history is very cool. It's also cool that the old man is involved in your cars. My Sport Coupe is headed in the same direction. Keep up the good work.
I just got back to working on the roadster, today was nice so I spent it replacing the quarter and wheelwell on the driver side. Next is the passenger side but that will be later this week. Came out pretty nice. The replacement panels are a mix of aftermarket and scraps that I kept from another roadster. Time for bed so go Tigers and Lions!
Thanks Moose, I am still torn about what to do as far as final bodywork and paint. I was not intending for this to be a "nice" car, it was meant to be a weekend runner that looked like something just found but now I am not sure. How far do you go?
Are you sure that's a 29? The three holes in the left rear is where they bolted the tail lights on the 28's, the tail lights were bolted to the left rear fenders on the 29's. Am I wrong? Nonetheless, that is one nice roadster. Are you going to run fenders?
I am pretty sure it is an early 29, it has 2-22-29 on the gas tank. I do not know when they made the switch. I am going to run it fenderless.
I was just told that ford used the drum taillight that came on the 28's until February of 1929. So the taillight mount in the subrail is correct for this car.
I never liked the rear panel on the roadster, the one below the decklid so I have been looking for atleast 8 months for an original Henry Ford part (I do not like repo stuff) and finally someone pm'd me and said he had one. It was NOT cheap but it is super nice and has no rust out or damage. Here is the new panel, actually looks like it was always on this car!
Looks really good so far. Amazing how that piece matches the car perfectly. I like the hose reel on the side of the house too!!
