Hey all!! Gotta get this BIG news out there and really hope everyone here on the HAMB can help us get the word out...

The Bombers Car Club has a very important announcement regarding this years Bombs Away Bash. Due to the overwhelming response of participants planning on attending this years Bash we have had to make a very difficult decision to move the venue. This years Bombs Away Bash will be held at the East Peoria Events Center. This is just 10 m...iles from Crusens but offers a much better venue
that will support all the folks planning to attend... The Event Center has a 20K+ square feet air conditioned indoor area that will be used for the bands and bar.. PBR, mixed drinks & food. The outdoor area is huge, over 10 acres!! Now not only will we be having the bands but we will be announcing new entertainment and events to the day.. such a motorcycle stunt show & a burnout contest, yes a burnout contest!!!

We will be making updates with local hotel & might be offering camping on-site.

We are very happy to announce this change and if you have any questions please let us know!!!!!

Next year, how about combining the Bash and the RWYB into a big weekend party? The Drags are during the day, and the Bash is always afternoon/evening, so...

98 miles.....
it would be impossible to get people to go to both.
Perhaps make one on Sunday?
It would make sense for those that are from outta town to be able to hit 2 events in a weekend versus just one........

We will have to talk it over - of course a LOT depends on Cordova - they are in the power position on this one.

Thanks for the suggestion Hellfish!

Too bad the old farmer that owns the land the old Peoria dragstrip is on shoots first and asks questions later.

Havana ILL. isn't too far away from Peoria. That's where Mid State Dragway is. It's a nice hometown style dragstrip that originally opened in 1969. Attached is a pic of my brother's 57 racing at Havana in about 1971.

Havana is a nice track now. It used to be kind of a crap hole. Not sure if your aware but that track is in complete financial lockup while the current owner is going through the courts on charges of fraud.

It will most likely be sold to the highest bidder in the end.

Until just recently, I didn't know about the financial probs with the track. However, it looks like it's already been sold, and to a HAMBer, too. Here's a link. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=564066

Wanted to update everyone that the Bombers car club has teamed up with the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America organization and the The Leathernecks Motorcycle Club Intl., Inc. a portion of the Bombs Away Bash Proceeds will be going to the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America organization.
If you are not familiar with this organization here is a little about what they do for Veterans and their families please come out and show your support:
IAVA Mission and History

Our Mission: IAVA’s mission is to improve the lives of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families.

The Need:
The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are in their eighth and ninth years respectively. Over two million American troops have served in Iraq or Afghanistan, and thousands have been deployed multiple times. IAVA addresses critical issues facing new veterans and their families, including mental health injuries, a stretched VA system, inadequate health care for female veterans, and GI Bill educational benefits. IAVA also provides valuable resources and empowers veterans to connect with one another, fostering a strong and lasting community.

History:
IAVA was founded in 2004 by current Executive Director Paul Rieckhoff and his fellow Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. After returning home from their tours, these veterans came together after quickly becoming concerned with the way the war in Iraq was being portrayed in the media and the overall plight of newly returned veterans. There were many policy experts and talking heads on TV, but very few people who had actually served on the ground in Iraq or Afghanistan. There was no one talking about what our wounded friends needed and the issues they faced. The creation of IAVA allowed thousands of veterans to join the national dialogue, and to explain what was really happening on the ground overseas and back home in the US.

Here is a link that shows what the IAVA is doing for our returning Veterans and why I am a member of this organization.

Guys just a little Bump for the Bash we met with the facilities manager this past week and have the layout squared away. In case you missed it we have teamed up with a local Marine Motorcycle Club and a portion of the profits from the show will go towards Iraqi and Afghanistan Vets and Families.
Still looking for vendors to help fill out the space and don't forget we have swap space available as well.
This is the Biggest Car Party in the Midwest so don't miss it.

Don't forget about Aug 6th The Run Whatcha Brung event at Cordova.
